CHAPTER7

Liam

I had spent three hours scouring the internet for a replacement bagpiper to come to Tabiq. How damn hard could it be?

Finn returned to his office looking spent. I didn’t need to ask. I’d seen that look before. It’s one he gets when a patient doesn’t survive. I got up out of his seat and he said, “No. Sit. I’ll take this one.”

I sat back down and wasn’t sure what to say. “Kyleigh gave me your message.”

“Kyleigh?” he said, looking at me puzzled.

“Yes, she said you wanted me to search for available bagpipers for your upcoming nuptials.”

“I’m surprised you called her by her first name. How did you know it?” he asked.

Fuck.

“Simple, I asked her. What was I supposed to call her?”

“Nurse Marzon. It’s on her name tag,” he said.

I chuckled. “Have you ever heard me call anyone by something so formal? That’s not my style and you know it,” I replied.

“True. I just wanted to make sure you were not hitting on one of my nurses. Because I do know that is your style,” he said, glaring at me. “We talked about this. The Tabiqian women are not…casual about sex like what you’re used to. And if you decided to go against my advisement, you’d put me in a very difficult spot with Reesa.”

Then I just have to make sure you never learn the truth. Because I plan on breaking your rules again tonight.

“Let’s talk about something more important, like the fact I couldn’t find anyone to come to Tabiq.”

“Damn it. What did they tell you?” he growled in frustration.

“That they have no idea where the hell Tabiq is, and the others said they are not traveling to a third world country for a gig,” I replied. “You might just have to face the fact you’re not going to have live Irish music. Does it really matter? I mean, I never thought you’d be stressed about having music from our homeland.”

“This isn’t about me, it’s about Reesa. When we were in Ireland, it was the one thing she said she wanted at the wedding. I don’t know how I’m going to do it, but I will find someone if I have to drag them here,” he said.

“You’re going to go back to Ireland just to find some to play at your wedding? Isn’t that a little extreme?” I asked. “I mean, you have an entire hospital to run. I’m sure Reesa will understand.”

“She’s not going to have to understand, because I’m not giving up,” he said firmly.

“You should’ve listened to Mom and taken lessons,” I joked. He grumbled, unimpressed with my humor. “Okay, what can I do to help?”

“Fly home and talk someone into it. Hell, you’ve always bragged about being the charmer in the family. Go prove it,” he said.

“That’s with the ladies,” I corrected. “When do you need me to leave?” I sighed, knowing damn well I wasn’t about to let my brother down - at least, not regarding the bagpipes.

“Tonight?” he asked.

“How about in the morning?” I suggested.

“Fine, but I thought you said you couldn’t wait to get back home. Guess Tabiq is growing on you.”

“It’s not bad. The ocean temperature is much nicer here.” And the view of Kyleigh naked on the beach was the most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen.

“I’m sure it won’t take you long to find someone. And since you’ve been complaining that you need to check on your construction business, this is perfect timing,” he said.

I don’t know about that.

He added, “Just make sure you’re back for the wedding. And while you’re there, don’t forget to bring your kilt with you.”
