“It won’t take me long. Give me a few days and I’ll be back,” I said.

He raised a brow. “What’s going on, Liam? You couldn’t wait to leave, and now you’re going to rush back? Don’t give me any bullshit about the great beaches. I don’t buy it.”

“Would you believe that I want to finish the house I’ve been building for you and Reesa before the wedding? Because I still have at least two weeks of work before I finish.” That was true. Kyleigh was just the motivation to get it done early.

“I really appreciate that. I thought I’d have more time to help you. But until I get another surgeon on duty, I’m always on call. It’s not fair to Reesa, but thankfully she understands. Hell, she’s the one who talked me into taking this job,” Finn chuckled.

“Are you regretting taking it?” I asked, worried that he might be having second thoughts. “I mean, you gave up everything in Ireland to come here.”

“Funny, I had a similar conversation with Nurse Marzon earlier today. What I gave up is nothing compared to what I gained. Although I love Ireland, Reesa holds my heart. This is my home as long as Reesa is here.”

“Never thought you’d settle down, but you seem…happy,” I said.

“I am. I hope one day you find someone who turns your life upside down just like Reesa did to me. It’s pure hell and heaven at the same time. But I’d do it all over again,” he said.

“Well, it’s getting close to dinner time. Why don’t you call it a day and go be with the love of your life? I’ll go and pack for my trip tomorrow.”

“Why don’t you come to dinner?” Finn offered.

“I would, but I’ve got a lot to do tonight. You know, try to secure a musician for you.” I got up and headed to the door. “I’ll keep you posted with what I find.”

“Thanks, Liam. I have no idea what I’d do without you,” he said, and gave me a pat on the back.

Remember that when you find out about me and Kyleigh.

Once I was in my vehicle, I called her. I had no idea how I was going to explain the fact I’m boarding a plane tomorrow. With what Finn stressed about the women here, there is no way she wasn’t going to take this news hard. But I was going to need to convince her that I wouldn’t be gone any longer than I needed to be. It wasn’t a commitment at all, but hopefully she’d understand that I wasn’t pulling a love you and leave scenario. I can be an asshole, but not that big of one.

She didn’t answer, but I received a text but was shocked by her reply.

I CAN’T MEET TONIGHT. SORRY. MAYBE WE CAN TRY AGAIN ANOTHER NIGHT.

That sucks.Had Finn told her that I was leaving? I can’t imagine he had, since I just left his office. If I told her, would she adjust her plans and come and meet me? I’d like to think so. Something had to have come up unexpectedly for her to change her mind. Besides, the longer I went without seeing her was the motivation I needed to make this trip to Ireland short.

Now I just hope nothing in Ireland comes up to detain me.

LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. HAVE A GOOD NIGHT.

I tossed my phone on the passenger seat and headed to the resort to pack. It’s not what I wanted to do, but if I wasn’t with Kyleigh tonight, I’d rather be alone.

Damn, I really wanted her in my arms. But it looks like a cold shower instead for me.

I had no idea why I was so drawn to her, why she haunted my thoughts. I hardly knew her, but something in me wanted to know everything about her. Maybe some time away would help me get her out of my system.

Maybe I shouldn’t rush back. Maybe time and distance are exactly what I need to forget every beautiful inch of her.

Even as I thought it, I knew I could never forget Kyleigh. One night was never going to be enough, and I could be on the moon, and still yearn to hold her again.
