“Good. She needs to get out and have some fun,” Logan said.

I was shocked to hear him say that. Back in Ireland, Logan didn’t seem in favor of that at all. Each time I met with him; he was all business. Hell, I wasn’t even sure Logan knew what fun was.

“Is that what tonight is supposed to be? Fun?” I asked. “When Bennett mentioned dinner, he really hadn’t given me any details.

Neither did Logan. Instead, he replied, “I’ll let you be the judge for yourself if tonight was fun. Right now, I think it’s time to talk business. Let’s start with that tour. All I ask is if you have any questions, please wait until we are out of earshot of anyone before voicing them.”

“No problem.”

“Reesa wanted to make the decision last week regarding my replacement. I was able to get her to extend it a few more days. I wanted you to see the hospital and spend time with Reesa again before any decision was made.”

“What do you mean, making a decision? Is she looking at hiring someone else?” I asked. Even though we hadn’t spoken much since she left almost two weeks ago, I would’ve thought she’d mention that to me. It almost sounded as though she no longer wanted me here. But that made no sense. It had been agreed upon that I would come and visit first before delivering my answer. Maybe she didn’t believe I’d come. Hell, I can hardly believe it either.

“You know what is at stake here. We need a strong leader here at the hospital. So much progress has been made, but it needs to continue. It does Tabiq no good if we send people to medical training to the U.S. and they chose not to return to put that knowledge to use. Whoever takes my role has to understand that everything you do, do it to assist in making Tabiq as strong and independent as possible.”

Like its beautiful leader, Reesa.

“Reesa has explained this to me.”

“Good. Then you understand why it’s so important that no one learns of this before Reesa wants them to. My family is here to help, but we do not want to give the impression that we are in charge. The announcement must come from Reesa, not any of us,” Logan said.

All good information, yet Logan never really answered my question on if I was still a candidate. Since he said it wasn’t his decision, then I planned on asking Reesa over dinner. Maybe that’s why she was avoiding me. She doesn’t want to tell me she’s retracting her job offer.

It wouldn’t be the worst thing. I was more worried that she wanted to keep me in the friend zone.

I already have a job - it’s Reesa I want.
