Chapter Twenty-Four

Skylar

I’ve cried all the tears I possibly can. The last few days have been hell, but I’ve kept myself occupied.

The shop is coming along nicely. In fact, I will be having the grand re-opening in a week.

“This is amazing!” Christy squeals as she helps me set up.

She has always been my lifesaver, and in this adventure, she hasn’t wavered.

“This is beautiful! Your store is going to do amazingly here. I know you don’t like the area for known reasons, but I swear you will pull in so much business here.” Having the shop so close to Dark Sinners wasn’t my ideal choice, but I didn’t know Justice at the time.

I looked and researched hard to find the best suitable placement, and unfortunately for me, this was it. Not that I mind, it did amazingly here before.

“I think you’re right. With the proximity to the college, we should get some sales.” Smiling at her, my heart leaps. She is wonderful.

“I can’t thank you enough for everything, Christy.” She places the shirt she was hanging down on the table and quickly pulls me into a hug.

“You’re the greatest friend I’ve ever had. You’re more like a sister, Sky. I’d do anything for you,” she says as she holds me close to her. When she finally pulls away, I smile at her.

“So you ready to hit the bar tonight?” I ask her as I finish hanging a few shirts.

“I am. I wish Rodney would come out with me. I think he likes me, but he’s always at the club,” she tells me. I know how that can be. Justice was the same way, but he did take me out when he could. Just the thought of him sends a chill down my spine.

“I think he likes you too. Maybe he just needs a little time,” I tell her as I adjust a few things.

“Maybe. Can I steal this to wear tonight?” she asks, holding up a shirt.

“Of course, you can.” She smiles and whips her shirt off, and I laugh.

“Anyone walking by can see you naked,” I remind her.

“I don’t care. I’m in a good mood,” she informs me with a little laugh.

“Seems so. You ready?” I ask. She nods her head as we walk out of the store and lock up. The walk to the bar isn’t far, and we make our way there.

As soon as we walk in, I see him, and my heart stops. A girl is hanging off his arm, pressing kisses to his neck. Bile burns the back of my throat when I notice it isn’t Darby. Is it someone from the club? No, he wouldn’t have brought them out.

I shake off the sight and head to the dancefloor with Christy right behind me. We dance and move to the music until she excuses herself to head to the bar. I watch her go, a smile on my face as I lift my hands in the air and sway my hips. Then I feel hands wrap around my waist, and I know instantly who it is.

“Justice,” I whisper.

“How did you know it was me?” he asks huskily.

“I know your touch,” I reply. He shouldn’t be here touching me. He shouldn’t be standing here with his hands on me. I almost panic when Christy walks back over.

“What are you doing here?” she asks in a not so polite tone.

“Dancing.”

“Don’t you have a girlfriend at home to go to?” she snaps at him. I slip out of his arms and rush to the bathroom. I slam the door closed and press myself against the wall. My heart is pounding, and I don’t know what to do. I can’t be this close to him.

Someone bangs on the door, and I yell that it’s busy, but they don’t stop. They continue pounding and pounding until I pull the door open and scream.

“It’s busy!” Before I know what’s happening, Justice rushes in and slams me against the wall. His lips crash into mine, and he kisses me like I’ve never been kissed before. His tongue sweeps into my mouth, and I moan before pushing him away.

“Your girlfriend,” I pant as he looks down at me.
