She turned away from me, looking toward the door, shame evident in her eyes. “It’s nothing.”
A peek of something purple beneath her shirt caught my attention, and instant rage took over me. Not asking if I could, I found myself pulling up her shirt, revealing the welts and bruises disappearing down into her underwear. They were fresh… new.
“What the hell? Who the fuck did this to you?”
She looked away.
“Ramona? Who fucking did this to you?”
Tears bit the corners of her eyes, forming the most visible form of insecurity and fear I’d ever seen.
“It doesn’t matter.”
“Was it Sabbath?”
She shook her head.
“Axl?”
Another shake.
“Then who?”
She pulled even further away. “It was a lesson…”
“Lesson? What the fuck? What kind of lesson leaves welts on the body like that?”
Robotically, she pulled her knees up, laying in a fetal position on her bed. “The kind only the Master gives.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Then it dawned on me… Keelie had called Wasp her Master in the hallway. Was that who did this to her?
“Was it Wasp?”
She said nothing.
“I’m going to kill him!” I shouted, immediately springing up from her bed.
“Don’t!” Ramona begged, rising up from the bed. “Please.”
“What? Why? If he did this to you, then he needs to pay for it.”
“No! Please. I wanted this. Besides, he wouldn’t have done it, if he had known I was pregnant. I basically begged for it.”
“You wanted to be beaten?”
She shook her head again, this time more vehemently. “It’s not like that.”
“Then explain it to me, because from where I’m standing, it looks like my best friend has been fucking beaten by one of the club members and he needs to be called out on it.”
“You wouldn’t understand. Hell, I don’t even understand how it happened. All I can say is that I enjoyed it.”
“You enjoyed getting beaten?”
“Punished.”
None of this made any sense.Who the fuck would enjoy being punished?
