Oh, we definitely have something.

But none of them were going to know that.

I was lucky he didn’t take that blade any deeper than he did.

Adjusting my posture, I rolled my neck, doing my best to hide the discomfort beneath my shirt. I was lucky Zeppelin was good at keeping secrets as well, and that he was good at patching shit up and making it go away.

Ranger nodded his head. “Yeah, I say we wait it out. We need to gather evidence against him, something significant that will get the rest of the club on board.”

“Stealing the club’s money wasn’t enough?” Snyder asked, throwing his hands up in the air. “Or what about starting a war with the Crows for no reason?”

Don’t forget about what he did in that cabin…

Damn, I really needed to stop thinking about that shit. What happened there was going to haunt me forever, but I was determined to take that shit to the grave before Sabbath put me there.

“So, we are just going to wait around until he does something worse?” Snyder’s annoyance was growing by the second. I could tell he wanted Sabbath gone, but none of us were going to act on it, not at least without solid proof the man wasn’t fit to lead the club anymore. Which he wasn’t, but I was pretty much the only one that knew that for sure.

Priest’s head hung in shame. “Unfortunately, Snyder, that’s all we can do.”

It was just like Priest to go to bat for Sabbath. The man’s connection with God could be exhausting at times, but also a little humbling. I don’t think I’ve ever respected or loved anyone like Priest loves his faith.

Snyder, Clash, and Ranger all shared an odd look, one nobody else seemed to notice.

“Then it’s settled. We just have to wait,” Snyder said, his voice dropping a few octaves.

He glanced over at Clash and Ranger, who all looked primed and ready for war.

I really needed to get to the bottom of this shit. Something was up with my brothers, and knowing what I know, I’d bet my dick that it had something to do with the fucking delicious piece of forbidden fruit that I could still taste on my tongue.

Chapter Four

Shasta

Ramona was notorious for having night terrors. I found this out rather quickly when I woke up to her whimpering and thrashing on her bed. I hated seeing her like that, so I did what any friend would do in that situation. I crawled into bed beside her and just held her as she worked through whatever demons plagued her head.

I didn’t feel safe next to Sabbath anymore. He was giving me wiggy vibes, and something inside of me was shouting to stay away, so despite his pleas for me to stay in his bedroom, I found myself back in Ramona’s apartment, keeping my distance the best I could.

“Shh, it’s okay,” I whispered, running my fingers through her hair as she wept against my belly.

“They never go away,” she murmured, squeezing me tighter.

“What?”

“The memories.” Her head slowly looked up to search my eyes for answers I couldn’t give.

“What memories?”

“Of everything… all the bad… all the times I was…” She gulped. “Forced.”

Then I noticed her wincing in pain, unable to fully lay on her back.

“Ramona? Are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” she hissed out as she sat up in an awkward position.

She was not okay.

“Ramona, why can’t you sit down?”
