Blake Sexy AF: Why does it have to be a Jeep Wrangler?

Me: This is easier to explain not over text but I can’t call you right now because my parents are home. Can we talk tomorrow? I will get out of work at 10

Blake Sexy AF: My Jeep Wrangler will be waiting for you outside :)

Blake Sexy AF: Maybe you’ll let it park in your garage? JK see you tomorrow

Me: Haha... Good night

I wrote my final text message to Blake and clutched my phone against my chest, sighing deeply, feeling torn. I kept vowing to stay away from Blake. But dear Goddess, he was like a drug and I was completely addicted. Stricken, I realized I had gone from wishing he’d forget me to running to him as soon as I needed help with something. Goddess be damned, I’d already flung myself off that cliff and was now free-falling, praying the crash wouldn’t destroy me.

Chapter 16

Jasmine

Justbeforetenthenext day, I saw his Jeep parallel park in front of the café. This time, much to my dismay, he came in to place an order. Lucy ran out from the back, flour dusting her arms and cheeks.

“Well, hello there, Mr. Alpha! I knew I smelled your scent from the kitchen!” Lucy leaned over the counter, her low-cut shirt and loosely tied apron displaying her cleavage. “Seems you’re right on time for the end of my friend here’s shift.”

“I am indeed,” he replied, smirking, looking between the two of us.

“What can I get you today?” I asked, interrupting their conversation.

“I’ll get a large, black coffee and what do you drink?” Blake looked at me.

“Oh, you don’t have to get me anything,” I replied.

“She likes cappuccinos.” Lucy pushed me out of the way. “Let me ring you in. Jaz, go make the drinks! Here, I’ll throw in some of my croissants on the house as well.” She pulled some out of the case and put them into a to-go bag as I began preparing the drinks, listening to their conversation, suddenly feeling a bit jealous at their interaction.

What did Blake think of Lucy? I mean, she was so tall and beautiful, I thought, contrasting her appearance to my shorter one. I wasn’t exactly short, but I also didn’t look like a supermodel. And Lucy was also much curvier than me, at least as far as her chest was concerned. I was only a cup size or two away from being completely flat.

“Much appreciated.” He pulled out his credit card and handed it to Lucy.

“So, where are the two of you off to today?” she asked as she inserted his card into the reader.

“Apparently your friend needs to buy a car. One that’s the same make and model as mine.”

“Isn’t that interesting. I had no idea Jasmine had saved up enough to buy a car already.” She turned her head to glare at me.

I threw my hands up. “It’s all very last minute! I just happened to notice I had enough money saved!”

“For a Jeep Wrangler?” Lucy questioned, crossing her arms and continuing to stare at me.

“Erm, well, I’m going to get an old, used one, that’s not that expensive.”

“Why a Jeep Wrangler?” She had her eyes narrowed at me.

“I’m wondering the same thing.” Blake looked at me, waiting for an answer with an amused smile on his face.

“Because I told my grandparents I bought one and they’re expecting me to bring it home from the dealership soon. Now my parents think I bought one as well. They were definitely a bit confused about when and how this happened, but I just made some stuff up and they seem to be convinced.”

“Why did you tell your family you bought a Jeep Wrangler?” Lucy asked. Just then, a customer walked in followed by Reena, signaling the end of my shift.

“Got to go. I’ll tell you later!” I replied. I handed the drinks I made to Blake, threw my apron in the dirty laundry hamper, and grabbed my purse, leaving Lucy to take the customer’s order. I grabbed Blake’s arm, pulling him out of the café before I was forced to give any more information.

Blake handed me back my cappuccino so he could open my door. Once we were both inside the car, he turned on the engine and rotated his head so he was facing me. “So, are you going to tell me the rest of the story?”

I laughed nervously, trying to decide how to best word what I was going to say. “Well, my grandparents kind of got on my case yesterday. They started asking me why I’ve been smiling so much lately and if I had met someone who’s not my mate. I sort of panicked and told them I was so happy because I finally bought a car.”
