“No, nothing specific. I’ve just been in a good mood,” I replied, hoping I sounded convincing.

“Usually when someone smiles like that it’s because they met their mate.” Both my grandmother and grandfather were now staring at me. My grandfather lowered the volume on the television.

“No, no mates over here!” I replied, my voice practically cracking, and I could feel my face going red.

“Have you perhaps met someone who isn’t your mate?” My grandfather narrowed his eyes at me.

My chest contracted and a dizziness came over me. I sensed the beginning stages of a panic attack, something I used to experience more frequently but hadn’t in a while. I tried to calm myself down, not wanting what was occurring inside me to be obvious. If I didn’t control myself I knew that the overwhelming sensation would force me to shift into a wolf and then my grandparents would definitely know something was up. I tried to think quickly of an excuse and finally blurted out the first thing that came to me.

“I bought a car!”

Both my grandparents looked very surprised. “What? You did? Where is it?” my grandmother asked.

“I haven’t brought it home yet. We’re still finalizing paperwork. I wanted to make it a surprise, but I am so happy I couldn’t stop smiling about it and now you know!” I started to feel myself calm at my clever excuse.

“What kind of car is it?” my grandfather asked.

“A Jeep!” I replied, blurting out the first type of car that came to mind. Oh shit, aren’t Jeeps expensive? Fuck, what was I going to do? Why did I say Jeep? Why did I say I bought a car at all?

“Really?” my grandfather asked, looking interested now. “Tell me more about this Jeep. What model is it?”

“Wrangler!” I said, recalling the name of the model that Blake drove. Oh my Goddess, I couldn’t believe I just told them the same exact make and model that the future alpha drove. “It’s a used one of course,” I added, hoping that made the lie seem more believable.

“That café must be paying you pretty well then,” my grandfather commented.

“Erm, well, I’ve just been saving really hard.”

“That’s my girl!” My grandfather smiled. It seemed they bought it. Of course, now I was on the hook for buying a used Jeep Wrangler.

After dinner, I googledJeep Wrangleronly to find out that, out of all Jeep models, Wranglers held their value the most, and Jeeps in general tended to hold their value from the time of purchase. What did I do? I finally texted the one person that I thought may be able to help. I pulled upBlake Sexy AFin my contacts and wrote,I need your help.

Not long after I texted him, I saw the three dots appear and his immediate response.

Blake Sexy AF: Ready and willing to provide my services

Blake Sexy AF: Assuming you need help getting off

Me: No, that’s not what I need help with!

Blake Sexy AF: That’s too bad, had my hopes up

Blake Sexy AF: Does that mean you’re servicing yourself? ;)

Blake Sexy AF: Call me so I can listen in. Or you can just text me the play-by-play

Me: Stop! This is serious!

Blake Sexy AF: Ok how can I help?

Me: I need to buy a Jeep Wrangler

Blake Sexy AF: Random?

Me: It’s a long story... But can you please help since you have one?

Blake Sexy AF: What do you need help with?

Me: I don’t know how to buy a car...
