I’m gentle for a few thrusts, holding her tightly as she gasps in pleasure. When she pulls at my hair, I lean up to look at her and she whispers, “Harder.”

The molten hot lust hits me hard at her whispered word and I take her lips in a punishing kiss while spreading her knees farther apart, I thrust harder, panting in exertion and moan when she squeezes me tighter.

Her breasts bounce with each thrust and she calls out my name. I gasp at the feel of her and when she tenses and whimpers her release, I let myself go, coming inside of her.

For a moment, we lie there breathing hard, and then Jane looks at me and says what I’m least expecting. “You should go commando more often.”

The words have us laughing together and I hold this woman to me. That rush of love I have for her rises over me again and I feel an intense need to never let her go.

Chapter Thirty-One

“We play dumb but we know exactly what we’re doing.”

-Taylor Swift

Jane

It’s fitting that right when life was feeling somewhat perfect, when things had started to really click for me for the first time in my life, that something would throw a wrench in that plan.

“Jasper Pierce is here for you,” Lisa’s voice calls over the intercom and I sigh.

“Is Paul downstairs?” I ask back. I was getting ready to head to lunch with my mother, again, and didn’t want to be late.

“He is,” she confirms.

“Go ahead and send Jasper in,” I reply, trying to keep the begrudging tone to a minimum.

I had successfully avoided anything to do with Jasper and my mother’s meddling ways for a few weeks now, staying in my work and private life bubble.

I enjoyed my nights again, going home and having Warren be there with me, working on his art, talking to me, reading next to me. We’d eat dinner together, watch a show… other things that made me blush.

“Knock knock.”

I glance up at Jasper’s tall, arrogant self walking into my office. I have to work hard to fight the grimace.

Jasper’s not the worst person in the world, just kind of close. He was a yes-man to his parents, willing to do whatever they asked if it meant he would be in charge of their company one day.

“How are you, Jasper?” I ask politely, keeping the desk between us.

“Fine, just here to pick you up.” He gives me a smile that’s slightly less slimy than normal. “You look nice.”

I frown, looking down at the navy-blue dress that hits midcalf. Warren said I was beautiful in this color which instantly made it my favorite dress. “Thanks… pick me up for what?”

“Lunch with your mom,” he replies, pulling his phone out of his pocket and typing on the screen.

“Oh.” I hold in my uneasy feeling. “I didn’t realize we had a meeting with you.”

He hums and doesn’t reply to my comment, but I grab my bag and head out of the office with him on my heels. Lisa gives me a wide-eyed look, telling me she knows exactly how I feel about Jasper being here.

As we get into the elevator, Jasper sidles up next to me, tucking his phone away. I discreetly take a step away from him, trying to keep a distance between us.

Since I hadn’t alluded to anything, hadn’t told Jasper anything to encourage him or my mother, I had foolishly assumed that this little charade had slithered away. Far, far away.

The elevators open to let someone else on and I glance up, happiness and surprise filling me at Warren’s face, him pushing a mail cart on board.

He nods at us. “Ms. Leads.”

“Mr. Blake,” I reply and step back and wait, knowing he’ll situate himself near me and I let myself breathe in his scent.
