This escape plan had to work, it was her only chance.

Her plan had one problem. Well probably it had several problems and there was a good chance it wasn't even going to work, but the major problem that she foresaw was how to get him in here. It was late, she didn't have a watch or a clock, apparently that was not permissible, but she knew it had to be late, Leo could have gone to bed already, he might not be watching her.

But what if he was?

She could wait till morning, try to get his attention then. Or she could just wait until he came back in, she assumed that he would bring her breakfast.

Although shecouldwait, she didn't want to.

Georgia didn't think she could take another second in this room. She was going to lose her mind. She needed to be out. Now.

It didn't hurt to try. She could attempt to draw Leo’s attention, and if it didn't work then she could get a couple of hours sleep and be ready to pounce on him in the morning.

There were no rules about sleeping, going to bed at a certain hour, or how long she had to sleep, or whether or not she was allowed to get back up. At least there were no rules that he’d told her about yet. She climbed out of bed and went and switched on the light. There was only one switch, but it illuminated all twenty of the globes in the room, bathing it in light. Instead of returning to the bed where the tapestry curtains might obscure Leo’s view of her if he was indeed watching, she went instead to the sitting area and draped herself out on the couch.

Then she drew in a breath.

The only way she could think of to draw Leo into the room was to cut herself. Just because she thought it was her only option didn't mean she was thrilled about. She was going to have to be careful, she didn't want to cut too deeply and cause herself an injury that was going to inhibit her ability to escape. She also needed to make sure that she did cut herself deep enough to draw enough blood to scare Leo enough that he would come in.

It was now or never. Before she could dwell on it or anticipate the pain, Georgia ran the blade along her wrist.

Immediately a line of blood appeared, oozing between the cut edges of her skin and dripping down onto her stark white nightgown.

For a moment she just stared at the bright red circle, mesmerized.

Another drop joined it, and another.

The door hadn’t opened.

Leo hadn’t come.

So much adrenaline was pumping through her body that she didn't feel any pain.

She lifted the blade and sliced herself again.

“What are you doing?” Leo roared, throwing the door open and storming toward her.

When Leo grabbed the hand that held the blade, Georgia swung her other hand at him. As she had hoped, he hadn’t even thought about her having more than one weapon, and didn't predict her swinging the other blade at him.

She was aiming for his face, in particular his eye, but at the last moment he flung up his arms and instead she connected with the back of his hand.

His eyes blazed fire at her and his expression was pure furious malice.

Georgia scrambled to her feet. She had to try and make a run for it. She didn't think she was going to get very far but she certainly wasn't going to just lay there and wait for him to kill her.

She made it about four feet when he tackled her.

She landed heavily, his weight crushing into her back shoved the air out of her lungs.

He flipped her over and sat on her stomach, his hands pinning her arms above her head.

“You think you can trick me?” he growled.

Georgia fought not to cower, she didn't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing how afraid of him she was. He already thought he was superior, that he was stronger, that he was the one in control. Maybe he was the one in control, and he may be physically stronger than her, but she was mentally and emotionally stronger, and he was superior to no one.

“No woman tricks me.” He released one of her hands and began to pry open her other hand which still clutched the razor in a tight fist. “So, you want to cut yourself to get my attention do you? Well, you’ve got my attention now.”

Leo managed to get hold of the blade and held it just above the skin under her right eye, this time Georgia couldn’t help but whimper. She knew he was about to kill her, and she also knew instinctively that it wasn't going to be a quick death.
