I snorted. “That’s big of you.”

“Fucker.” Storm chuckled.

“How is Wolf?” I sat on the edge of the bed, keeping an ear out for Aspen.

I’d worried about Wolf nonstop since the accident. He was crazy in love with my sister. I couldn’t imagine what he was going through.

I cut my eyes to the bathroom door, remembering when I lost Aspen. It wasn’t like she’d died. I always knew she was alive somewhere.

On some level, when I didn’t hate her for breaking my heart, I’d hoped our paths would cross. That maybe we’d be given a second chance. And here we were together. I was damn grateful too.

Wolf wouldn’t get another chance with Jill.

“He keeps to himself.”

“I’m not surprised.”

Wolf was never a social creature. That was Jill. Strange how they seemed to work despite their differences.

I sat on the edge of the bed. “Keep him busy. Don’t let him sink.”

“So do you really want to come back? If Campbell finds out she’s in town, he will turn the place upside down.”

“That’s what’s holding me back. I don’t want to cause more chaos for the club or the town. I also don’t want to risk Aspen’s life.”

“Then tell me what you want. My cousins are here. So are the Fallen Soldiers. My dad sent a crew of his men to help us. We’re going all-out war to get Casso. Hendricks doesn’t like it, but he’s tired of the shit Campbell’s pulling.”

“I don’t even know what I want.” It turned my stomach when I thought of Aspen being near Casso.

“If Aspen were here, he might get ballsy. Like he’s God, storming the gates of the compound. We’d have enough men to take him and his men out.”

“I don’t like the idea of using her as bait.” Just then, I saw Aspen listening. Fuck. She’d already volunteered. Tried to run away to protect everyone. She’d do it. I fucking didn’t like it, nor did I want to take any chances Campbell might get his hands on her.

“It’s up to you, brother. Nearly a month of this shit. I’m over it. I won’t let this go on for as long as the war with the Hunters.”

“I hear you there.” I tracked Aspen’s every move as she dried her hair, only wearing a towel. She hadn’t spotted all day. Every time she went to the bathroom, I waited on pins and needles for a report. I was at my wit’s end, desperate to finally make love to her. I didn’t care about a little blood. But she seemed to, and I respected that.

“I’ll check in if anything changes.” Storm muttered something to someone else. “Angel wants to know how Aspen’s doing after the miscarriage. Patch also wants to know if she’s had any issues.”

I smiled, imagining Storm was uncomfortable as hell talking about personal things. He had a big heart he rarely revealed. The most protective man I knew. But he didn’t want to know shit about other people’s personal life.

I needed to screw with him just for the helluvit. “Maddy is the sweetest. Aspen hasn’t spotted all day. Her bleeding let up probably six or seven days ago.” I nudged my chin at Aspen. “Babe, how many days has it been since you had heavy bleeding?”

She raised her hands in the air, mouthing, “What are you doing?”

I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Fuckin’ hell,” Storm growled. “Angel, she’s fine. Enough with the questions.”

Yep, I took great joy, hearing the irritation in my brother’s voice. Damn, I missed him.

“I’m out,” Storm muttered. “I’ll be in touch when I know more.”

“Try not to call tonight.” I sensed Aspen and I might be in the clear.

“Why not?”

“Brother, do you really need to ask?”
