“She has you. She has everything she needs.”
“What if I mess up?”
“You will. Every parent does. There isn’t a manual for raising a baby Savage. You just have to do what you think is right. That’s all anyone can do.”
“But I’m not her father. I’m her uncle.”
“Then be the best Uncle you can.”
“How do I take care of her and do what needs to be done here? The club takes a lot from me. I still need to find Acid and kill him. I can’t do that if I’m here taking care of Hailey. She needs a mom. Someone who will love her and provide for her. I’m not that person.”
“Hailey has everything she needs right here, Savage. This club, everyone here will help. I will too.”
“Why would you do that? I know Reaper paid you to make sure I didn’t drink myself to death. I’m sober now. You don’t have to stay with me anymore.”
Jess got to her feet and said, “Yes, he offered to pay me to look after you but I didn’t take the money. I came because I wanted to.”
