Her lips pursed, and one eyebrow arched expectantly. I loved that she’d just gotten done apologizing and was already sassing. “And do you forgive?”

“I do.”

Her sigh turned into a groan. “Now, can we get off this fucking lake? Because murder could quite possibly be back on the table if we’re not.” Then she leaned forward and pressed her mouth to mine again and again, almost mewling between each kiss. “Can we go back now, Alex?”

I grinned against her lips. “Demon.”

She tipped her chin. “Row me to shore with your great big muscles and I’ll be ever so grateful.”

That had me full-on cackling and picking up the oars. “Now that’s how you talk to a real man.”

“Shut up, Alex.” She giggled in a way I hadn’t heard in years, and it only made me row faster so I could hear a whole hell of a lot more of it.
