“Touch me. Please.” Her eyes are closed, and as I brush my thumb over her pulse point, her heart is racing.

My hand goes from her neck to her breasts, my fingers skating over her skin.

“Here?” I ask as I roll her nipple between my fingers.

“Yes,” she gasps, arching her back and pushing her breast into my hand. I keep one hand on her breast, sliding the other one down her body and between her legs. My fingers swipe through her folds, my thumb finding her clit.

“What about here?” I whisper in her ear.

“Mmmmm,” she moans, her hips lifting off the bed.

I chuckle. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

Moving my head down to her breast, my mouth replaces my fingers, and I suck her nipple into my mouth, eliciting a moan from her. Maneuvering my hand, I slide a finger inside her while my thumb continues to circle her clit.

“Fuck!” she groans as I slide a second finger inside her.

“I need to taste you,” I tell her, my voice husky against her breast.

“Oh, God. That turns me on so much.”

I smile to myself as I kiss down her body, settling between her legs. My fingers continue to move inside her, and I lower my head, my mouth latching on to her clit. Her legs trap my head in place and her fingers tug on my hair. Her moans are getting louder, and as her legs begin to tremble, I know she’s close. Her walls are fluttering around my fingers, and I bite down gently on her clit, tipping her over the edge.

Her body shudders as her orgasm consumes her. I continue with my fingers and mouth, pulling every last second of pleasure from her body. When her legs drop to the side and release my head, I remove my fingers and press a kiss on her clit. My lips make their way up her body, finally finding her mouth.

When I pull out of the kiss, I brush her cheek with my fingers. “I wish I didn’t have to go and I could make love to you all night.”

She winds her hands around my neck. “I wish you didn’t have to go either.”

“Will I see you tomorrow?”

Melody has been working at the coffee shop in town for the past couple of weeks. While I’ll go straight to bed when I finish tomorrow morning, I’m normally awake by two. She might be working, so I don’t want to just assume I can come around, but I want to see her.

She nods. “I have a shift at the coffee shop in the morning, but come over when you wake up and I’ll make you some lunch. We should have an hour alone before I have to pick Roman up from preschool.”

“I can’t wait.” I sigh. “I’d really better get going.” I reluctantly climb off the bed and quickly pull on my clothes. “Message me before you go to bed. I’ll reply if I can.”

“Okay. Stay safe.”

“I will,” I tell her, leaning down and kissing her one last time. I step away before it gets heated. I’ll never want to leave if I carry on. “Bye, baby.”

“Bye, Lucas.”

I’m sleeping when the alarm sounds and startles me awake. I groan and sit up, rubbing my eyes. I look at my watch, seeing it’s almost one thirty a.m. I’ve had about three hours’ sleep. I pull on my boots that sit at the side of my bunk and jog out of my room and into the hallway. Taking the pole, I’m by the engine in seconds and pulling on my uniform.

“What have we got?” I shout to Dylan, who’s walking toward me with a frown on his face.

“A fire on Crab Apple Lane.”

“What number?” I ask, fear creeping up my spine.

“1022.”

“That’s Melody’s place!” My heart pounds in my chest as I climb onto the fire truck, Dylan and Liam following. “Are they out?” I ask desperately as the engine races out of the firehouse.

Dylan blows out a breath. “Dispatch are telling us that a woman and child are trapped on the second floor.”
