“Ms. Kane and I are acquainted, thank you, Denise,” Daniel said and stood, taking her hand in his, rubbing his thumb discretely over her wrist. “Harper, this is Harry from our marketing team. He will be your primary contact on this project after today.”

Of course, because he was returning to New York and his entire life which didn’t include her.

“Hi,” she said to Harry.

“Nice to meet you, Harper,” Harry said, reaching out his hand. “I love your books, by the way. I am a big fan.”

Harper grinned. She never tired of hearing that.

“Thank you so much.”

As everyone echoed their love of her books, her eyes darted to Daniel. He looked proud, which surprised her. They had talked little about her writing or books, which was unusual, as most people had a thousand questions when they met an author.

She opened her laptop and glanced up. Dark intense eyes were watching her. Harper cleared her throat, and the corner of his lips curled up.

“Kas, would you like to kick us off?” Denise said, reclining in her chair.

“Yes,” the petite blonde said, casting a blushing smile Daniel’s way. When he didn’t react, the woman cleared her throat and continued.

Harper watched the interaction, realizing this was Daniel's life every day. Women offering themselves to him in subtle—or less subtle—ways because of his position, money, and power.

It wasn’t like she hadn’t known but watching it in action was another thing. Especially when Daniel had had his fingers inside her just minutes before.

Harper's eyes fell to her keyboard as Kas started outlining their day.

She wondered if this was why Daniel was interested in her? Harper had done the exact opposite. Was she just a challenge? They say men liked the hunt. Is that what this was?

She looked back at the BookFlix woman. Kas was gorgeous and around her age. A rising star in an influential role in entertainment. An American. She had a rock star figure and cascading sexy blonde hair that all the men loved.

“How does that sound, Harper?” Kas asked.

No idea. She hadn’t heard a thing.

Harper smiled and looked at the screen on the wall with the agenda projected on it. She sped read through it and nodded.

“Great. Really great,” she said, avoiding Daniel's eyes. She could feel him looking at her and the thickness of the sex balls filling her.

Everything was just so confusing and conflicting in her brain right now.

“Shall we jump straight into the filming location then, so Mr. Dufort can get back to his day?” Kas said, giving him a smile worthy of a Colgate advertisement.

Daniel nodded.

“My morning is clear, and Harper has my full commitment to this project, so no need to rush on my behalf,” he said, then met her eyes. They had an intensity to them that said whatever you are thinking—stop it.

She gave him a little smile and as she began to type on her notepad, a low vibration began.

Shit.

Her body lit up and she squirmed in the chair. She bit the side of her mouth and attempted to tap something on her notepad. It read Dfsp dpriek spriek psida. So that would be useful to refer back to.

“Marissa,” Denise said, and Harper jumped unnecessarily.

Everyone looked at her, then carried on.

Daniel smiled at her with his eyes.

Fuck.
