Chapter 16

Carter

“Iknowyou’veallkissed her,” I said later that night. “What did she say about me?” I asked.

“Maybe it isn’t about you,” Ryan said. “Maybe she likes us.”

“You know that isn’t the case. She is using you to get back at me,” I said.

“She can use me,” Seb said, one side of his mouth curved up.

I glared at him.

Ryan sighed. “She’s had a few dates with Jack and Blake. I overheard her talking to her uncle about it.”

“Dates,” Seb yelled at the same time Kane grunted, but I already knew and thought her dates with Jack were getting out of hand.

“I also had a conversation about you, but before I tell you, I want you to tell us everything the night you ended. Everything.”

I shifted in the seat, thinking back to the night. “What do you mean? I’ve told you everything.”

Kane cleared his throat. “Was it a one-off?”

“Why doesn’t anybody believe that they set me up?” I hissed.

“We will when she tells us that happened,” Kane replied.

“I didn’t do it,” I yelled. “If you’d ever been in love, you would realise I would never do that to her,” I spat back.

“I’ve been in love in the past, and didn’t cheat,” Kane raised his eyes and continued, “… on her.”

Seb turned and looked at Kane in the strangest of ways. Something definitely flashed between them.

“You’re the one who keeps pissing her off by calling her princess,” I said and laughed.

“What do you mean?” Kane asked, his voice low.

“That’s what her dad called her.” I laughed at his fuming face. “Have you never seen her face every time you call her it? You break her, and she hates you a bit more each time. She was her daddy’s princess, not yours.”

“You didn’t tell me before now and you let me call her it on purpose?” Kane’s eyes narrowed. He looked away for a moment and I watched as he sucked in a deep breath.

I felt incredibly nasty right now; I wanted her to hate every one of them if she hated me. Especially her admitting she had kissed each one of them purely to piss me off. I should have told Kane not to use that word, but it was one way to ensure she would hate him. “And I told you I’d do what I had to, to get her back,” I said.

Kane jumped up and strutted around the room like he was going to combust. I glanced at my side each time he walked past. I didn’t think he’d throw a punch, but Kane had lost his mind several times and I wasn’t taking any chances.

A voice cleared.

“She said she lost everything that night. She was going to give you everything. What did she mean by that?” Ryan asked, taking my thoughts away from Kane. I turned to Ryan. His face was crimson, which meant if I pissed Ryan off, I was in deep trouble with everyone.

Never mind, everyone hated me right now, hell I didn’t like myself too much either.

“Fucking tell us, or we will stop trying to help you,” Seb yelled.

“Help me, you’d all fuck her if you had a chance,” I shouted back.

“Tell us,” Seb said. His face remained neutral, not reacting to what I’d said.

I scratched the back of my head and ran my hand through my hair. “You already know her parents died in a car accident.” I paused for a breath. “It was the night she was talking about. She was supposed to go with them, but she feigned sickness and came to see me. The last thing she did was have an argument with her parents to get out of having dinner with them.”
