Chapter 20

Maverick

I shove my phone in my pocket trying to conceal my growl. “A hot date.” I don’t know what it is about this girl. She pushes every fucking button I have, and my twisted ass likes it.

“Everything okay?” Widow asks as we take a seat in the corner booth at Lace.

“Fine.” I grunt and he chuckles.

I glance around the club. I will give it to Ivan, the place looks great. Clean, and classy. The booths are upholstered in gold leather and the tables are a crimson red. A huge lighted stage is at the back, which is now showcasing Lady, one of our seasoned strippers. Two small round stages are on each side of the main stage where a few of our other girls are putting on a show.

“Gentlemen. It’s been a while.” Amelia gives us a smile and winks over at Tank.

Amelia is in charge of the girls. She has worked for us for years and I trust her with the choice of our entertainment.

“Amelia. Looking lovely as always.” I lean back against the booth. “Give us a round of the usual.”

“Alright, be right back.” She heads towards the bar and Tank just about broke his neck trying to watch her ass prance away.

“It’s 8:45 Prez.” Boston drops a cigarette between his lips.

I nod. “He’ll be here.” I look over to Dom. “Romeo and Knuckles good?”

“All good.” He answers me, but his eyes never leave Lady on the main stage.

My attention turns to the entrance when I see movement.

Viper.

Viper slowly walks to our table flanked by a Serpent on each side. He is a skinny motherfucker. Probably due to all the drugs he does. He may be skinny, but he’s lethal. No moral radar and his lack of control makes him dangerous.

There’s just enough room in the large U-shaped booth for them to sit down.

“Maverick. Delightful place you got here,” he says as he approaches the table.

I nod. “Viper. Welcome to Lace.”

The two guys slide in. Viper slides in last so he’s sitting across from me.

He smirks as he looks at me and my brothers. “I see you finally got my message.”

My jaw tightens. “I’m here. What do you need to discuss with me so urgently?”

“I want to talk about our fathers.” His blood shot eyes connect with mine.

“What about them?”

Viper’s father was killed six years ago in an explosion, and he took over his role.

He rubs a hand on his chin. “They had an agreement going back, twenty years. I think times have changed and we have a more, should I say, modern outlook on club business.”

I shrug. My father and his did have an agreement. We stayed out of each other's territory, and no drugs were to be sold in ours. Pretty plain and simple. We never had any trouble.

“What are you proposing?” I pull my cigarettes from my pocket.

“I want to expand my product. I can guarantee a generous reward for you and your club if I can sell in Paradise.” He knocks his serpent ring on the table. “I will give ten percent of my profits monthly. I can clear a hundred grand in a month. That’s ten thousand in your pocket without lifting a hand.”

I nod and take a long drag, tilting my head back to blow out the smoke. They aren’t called Serpents for nothing. I don’t trust him. He always has an agenda. My place as president is to continue my father’s legacy, not tarnish it. We were never rivals, not until Viper stepped in. He may trash his father’s name, but I won’t trash mine.
