Chapter 8

Tanner

The car ride home is silent. I’m not sure I can even put into words what I experienced tonight. Number one, the abundance naked people. I swear I saw a random guy snort something off a girl's ass cheek. Then there’s the tall, magnificent man I was drooling over like a twelve year old with a crush. He’s Dani’s freaking brother. Oh, and apparently the one who runs the pornographic circus that I just left.

We made it to the apartment, and I collapsed on my bed. Dani falls down next to me.

“Well…. what did you think of your first biker party?” She asks with a nudge of her elbow.

“I can never unsee the things I saw.” I mutter.

She bursts out a laugh and loops her arm through mine.

“Well at least you're not a party virgin anymore.”

“Oh I’m well broke in,” I laugh. “What’s the deal with our brothers? They are so…. demanding.” I look over to her.

She rolls her eyes. “Club world is a little different. I get cut some slack since my brother is the president, but women usually keep quiet.”

“What do you mean keep quiet?”

“Like if a brother tells you to do something, you do it, no questions asked. Especially my brother and Dom. Maverick is the King, and Dom is his right hand man. You never disrespect them.”

“So the guys can just do whatever they want, and the women have to obey?” I ask with a frown.

“Pretty much. Some guys have old lady’s and it’s a little different with them.”

“Old ladies?” I squawk.

She laughs. “It just means girlfriend, or wife.”

I look up at the ceiling. “It sounds…...”

“Fucked up?” She asks.

“Well, I mean…” I shrug.

“It’s more than what it seems T. It’s a family. Every single one of the brothers would lay their life down for the other without a second thought. Underneath all the partying and business, there’s a lot of love.”

As weird as it sounds, I have felt nothing but love since I got here. My parents loved me, but they weren't really around to give it, and the girls at school were nothing like Dani. Her mom was even nice to me.

“Let's get some sleep,” I whisper as my eyes finally close, and Dani flings her arm over my stomach. Personal space is a foreign concept to her, and I’m surprised that I don’t even mind it.

It’s been a month and a half since the party. I have not stepped foot back in the clubhouse. I have gone over to Dani’s house a few times. I really like her mom. It makes me feel like I have some form of a family after losing mine. This small apartment is beginning to feel like home. I have gradually started to decorate the living area with blankets, and some new curtains. I love to put fresh flowers on the table. Travis hasn’t said anything, so I guess he doesn’t mind. He’s been good about groceries. He has a prospect bring them over once a week to make sure everything stays stocked. I believe his name is Skittles, which has me curious to how he achieved that nickname. He’s pretty cool. He will even call and ask if I request anything specific. He’s a sweetheart.

It’s a Thursday night. Dani and I have been binging Good Girls. Never in my life did I think I would find a freaking neck tattoo attractive. Well here I am. One word. Rio.

“So, you know I've been working at Maxi’s for a while now. I was thinking since you're getting close to graduating, you might want a part time job? We lost a waitress last week. She ran off with her mom's boyfriend or some Jerry Springer shit, so we are hiring,” Dani says as she hops up onto the kitchen counter like that’s a totally normal scenario.

“Sure. That actually sounds good. I could use extra cash. I have access to my parents' assets when I turn twenty-one, but I need most of that for college.” I tell her as I polish my nails.

“Sweet! I'll text Maxine. She's Preach’s wife.” She pulled out her phone and frantically typed a message.

Not two minutes later her phone dings. She smiles wide. “You can start tomorrow! I can train you.”

“Awesome!”

It dings again and she groans. “She says we need to okay it with your brother and mine first.” She hops off the counter. “Geez, they are such a buzzkill.”
