“How did the meeting go?”

I loved that he’d had confidence in me to handle this and hadn’t demanded we tell him the minute we’d returned. Atticus never failed to surprise me with how much he believed in others.

“It went well. What Nat said is true. They’re not involved with Dayton, just a family skirmish that keeps them from being great. Nat wants Cami and Pixel to help her with a job, and then it will allow the O’Sullivans to provide us with more assistance once the encumbrance is removed.”

“Do you think it’s wise?” he asked, stroking my belly with his thumb. Sax rolled over, watching me as I spoke. His hand came up to my face, tracing the outlines of my features. He was so gentle that I stopped for a minute to let him caress me. My eyes fluttered shut at the soft touch, but I didn’t forget what Atticus had asked.

“I told them it was their decision. I believe Brianna is a good woman, and the alliance of their family would be a good thing, but I didn’t want to risk them if they weren’t committed. It seems fairly simple, and Nat’s confident that the three of them, along with Beau and Byron, will be able to succeed.”

“If you ever doubted your role here, I hope you hear how much of the Queen you sound. You make us better, Bellezza. All of us. I’ve seen Cami and Nat grow in confidence since meeting you. Your touch isn’t limited to just us, but all of the Mascros. I can’t wait to see everything you’re able to accomplish.”

He kissed my neck again on the pulse point, and I sucked in a breath. Sax stared at me intently in front of me, and this moment felt powerful as we lay in bed, talking about the dynamics of our family. I liked how it felt, and I knew I was embracing this life more and more each day, becoming the version of myself I was always meant to be.

“It felt nice to go there and be listened to, feel needed. I liked it,” I admitted.

“We will never not need you, Spitfire,” Sax whispered.

“And I will never not need you. The five of you showed me who I could be, and the family we’ve built is everything I’ve ever wanted. This is the life I dreamed of.” They both kissed me, happiness radiating through them. Outside of having my other three husbands here, the moment couldn’t have been more perfect.

“How did your meeting go, Attie?”

“Good, Bellezza. I'll tell you all about it in the morning. Sleep for now.”

“Fine,” I grumbled, closing my eyes for a second before they popped back open.

“Sax?”

“Yes, Spitfire?” he asked, his voice becoming heavy with sleep.

“Where did you ravage me earlier, and what was it that you used? I came so hard I blacked out before I could find out.”

A bellow erupted out of Sax, startling Atticus behind me. “Shit, Sax!” he hissed.

“Sorry,” he soothed, laughing.

“Well?”

“Oh, just Atticus’ desk and the new fountain pen he’d bought recently.”

“Christ!” was muttered behind me as shock settled on me at his declaration. After a second, a giggle erupted, and then the other two bodies in bed joined me.

“A… pen?” I asked around my laughter.

“Without the ink, of course. I’m a gentleman like that.” Sax chortled, causing us to lose it again.

“I’ll never be able to look at that pen now without getting an erection,” Atticus groaned.

“That was kind of the point.”

“Why do I feel this just created a competition between the two of you to see how far you can push this?”

“I have no idea what you’re referring to, Bellezza,” Atticus said, barely able to keep a laugh from his voice.

“Well, as long as I get orgasms, I don’t really mind. Game on, boys.”
