Finally, the day is over. The lights are low throughout the mansion. I haven’t seen Reese all day, but the rest of the crew assures me that he’s still here, pacing up and down in a room reserved for a feral. Every time someone has gone in to check on him, he has snarled and intimidated them until they left him alone.

No one is surprised, of course; he’s feral. His job is simple, and it has nothing to do with the crew, since the ferals are almost never filmed.

Unfortunately for him, that’s not going to be the case much longer.

Chapter Twenty-six

~Reese~

I’ve been pacing this room so long I’m a little concerned I’ll wear a hole in the floor. I can sense her, just down the hall. I know she’ll pick someone good. Someone who will treat her right. So why does it feel like I’m making the biggest mistake of my life?

There’s a quiet knock at the door. When I open it, I find two omegas: the female one smells like warm cookies, the male like lavender. Both are lovely scents, and my alpha nature stirs, but there’s nothing about them that pulls on me; nothing that makes me want to take them inside and make them scream.

“What do you want?” I ask.

The female omega looks up at me through her eyelashes. “Just wanted to get a look at the goods.”

“Seems to us that you might be worth a tumble,” the male says. “We heard good things.”

My stomach roils. “Get out of here,” I snap at them. “I’m only here for Haven.”

“That’s not what the producer told us,” the female says with a pout. “She said we could all use you if we wanted to. And we want to try you out.” She reaches out and trails a finger down my chest. “Come on, feral. Show us what you’re good for.”

I bat her hand away, and she gasps as if she’s shocked, snatching her hand back. “Oh, Randy, he’s vicious. I love it.”

“I don’t want anything to do with either of you,” I say, my lip curling angrily.

I want to fuck. I want to dominate. But I don’t want to do it with either of them. Just Arlo. Just Haven. No one else.

“Interesting, isn’t it, Beatrice?” says Randy.

“It is.”

“Maybe we should go tell Jenn about this,” Randy muses. “Seems to me like you’re not doing your job.”

“Go tell her then,” I snarl. And I slam the door in their faces.

I hear some affronted voices followed by whispers, and then their feet moving down the hall away from me. A few minutes later, there’s another knock at the door. I throw it open, my temper rising. “I said—”

But this time it’s Arlo standing there. His hands are in his pockets. He looks up at me, that shock of dark hair falling over his brow. “Can I come in?” he asks.

I step out of the way, and he enters, looking around. “Nice room,” he says.

“Anything is nice compared to where you’ve been staying,” I growl at him. “What are you doing here? What do you want?”

“I want to talk to you,” Arlo says, sitting down on the bed. He pats the spot beside him, encouraging me to sit, but I shake my head, staying across the room. Even from here, his rainstorm scent is calling to me, begging me to take him. I can smell a hint of the other omegas on his clothes, too. My eyes narrow in suspicion.

“Did you send those two omegas?” I ask.

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because I wanted to see what would happen,” he replies matter-of-factly.

“That’s a pretty shitty thing to do,” I growl.

He cocks an eyebrow. “Was it?” He leans forward, putting his elbows on his knees as he studies me. “Reese, you told me that being a feral alpha means you’ll fuck anything that moves. But when you were presented with two very good-looking omegas, willing and able to fuck you, you said no.”
