“In the morning?” Her voice sounds more alert by the second.

“Shh. Go back to sleep.”

“Is everything okay?” She presses up on her elbow. “Cash told me about this weekend, about tomorrow.”

“I know, he told me when I got to Hunter’s place.”

“Are you okay? You’re here so late.”

I ease her back to my shoulder and press my lips to her temple. “All’s good. Had to talk Hunter off the ledge.”

“Hunter?”

“Yeah, sometimes I think he takes this the hardest of all of us, because he wasn’t there.”

“What do you mean?”

“He was away at summer camp when the accident happened.”

She’s hooked her leg over mine and I’m slowly rising to the occasion of having her like this, close and cozy in my arms. I might be mentally drained, but physically… This afternoon’s unfulfilled longing still echoes through my body, and despite my exhaustion, despite the weight of the evening pressing down on my chest, she still does this to me. If this is the cure, show me where I sign up.

“I’m so sorry. For all of it,” she whispers in my neck, setting fire to my skin.

“It’s okay. It’s a long time ago now.”

“And yet it feels like yesterday.”

I turn into her, hugging her tight in both arms and clinging to her as she cradles my head in her arms. She holds on to me, for however long it takes for the waves of emotion to crash through me and run their course. Eventually, the tremors running through my body subside and she kisses my eyes, my cheek, my temple. I want to stop her, but I only drown deeper in her embrace, my hand slipping underneath the satin to her bare, silky skin.

Her hands are roaming too and when she drags the cover away from my body, I cave. I let her strip off my boxers as I get lost in her curves, my hands and lips sweeping over her body, wanting to get as physically close to her as possible after I revealed my heartache to her. Her lips find mine and I’m lost in her sweet taste as her fingers dig into my hair and her body rocks against mine in a declaration of things she wants, and a promise of things to come.

“We don’t have condoms,” I whisper, desperate.

“We don’t need one for what I have in mind,” she says as she sits straight and straddles me.

I harden even more at the promise of those words. In the soft light from the window, her hair falls in golden strands around her face, and I think I’m dreaming because this woman is an angel.

Her slip’s black strap drops from her one shoulder, and it slides down her arm, revealing her breast. I reach up and run my knuckles over her nipple, making her gasp.

“Look how perfect you are,” I murmur as I bunch the satin up to her hip with my one hand, rubbing her hardened nipple between two fingers of the other.

“When it comes to you, I think I fall short.” Her fingertips are on my cock, her touch featherlight as she skims my most sensitive skin up and down.

I twitch and strain at her touch, but inside, her words dig deep into my soul. Cash told me she asked What’s there to fix? Nobody has ever thought of me as anything but a giant correction that needed to happen. I’m so far from perfect, I’m not even plotted on the bell curve and the world doesn’t know what to do with me. I have one scar on the surface for all to see, and yet here she is, healing every cut and bruise that lies beneath my skin, where I hide them from the world.

I sit up and kiss her, not ever wanting to let go. Her slip slides off her arms, leaving her breasts bare, and I prompt her to raise her arms so I can tug it over her head. With my hands on her butt, I urge her forward to press against me. We kiss, slow and deep, eyes open, finding each other. For all my resistance this afternoon, there’s nothing left now, and when she presses me back onto the pillows with a sweet smile, I comply.

“My turn,” she whispers as she settles between my legs.

Her lips seal over my cock in a gentle suck that makes me drift away toward sublime oblivion. She starts off slow as she explores every vein and ridge on my cock, taking me deeper with each twist of her tongue and pull of her lips. It takes all my self-control not to plunge up with my hips and meet her halfway, but when her hand closes around me in a firm grip, I feel myself succumbing to the rhythm of her movements. Her hold is steady, and her mouth takes me so deep that I’m close and want to pull her away before I come.

I cup her face in my hands, but as if she senses my intention, she takes me deeper and deeper still. “Georgiana.” I’m out of breath, my body swelling with ecstasy as she lets me unload at the back of her throat.

My heart is in my mouth and the words are stuck everywhere as I gaze at her. “You’ve ruined me.”

She comes up, her eyes shy as she rubs on the underside of her bottom lip with her thumb. “You’ve ruined me,” she murmurs. “It’s tit for tat really.”

I chuckle as I reach for the glass of water next to my bed. “Here.”
