“I know. I’m sorry. I know you didn’t.”

“Then try to relax, and at least try to have a good time,” he tells me.

“This isn’t going to be easy on me,” I admit. He walks over and runs his hands up and down my arms soothingly.

“I know it isn’t. And if I could change it for you, I would.” Justice tries to ease some of the discomfort I feel. This is all so much to take in. “Now, I have some plans for you,” he says with a sly smile.

“Which are what?”

“I want to take you out. Show you a good time, and I think maybe we can find a pair of handcuffs.” Justice smiles that delicious smile at me, and I melt. A woman could get lost in that smile if she wasn’t careful.

“You want to take me out?”

“Yes, I do. I want to have a good time with you. We’re stuck in this situation, so we might as well make the best of it.” I nod, and he leans in, pressing his lips to mine.

“Go get dressed.” He nudges me to get me moving. I turn on my heel and grab my bag before heading to the bedroom.

Setting my luggage on the bed, I unzip it and pull out a sundress. Thankfully whoever bought these clothes picked out something I’d wear.

I strip out of my clothes and pull on the dress before pulling out a pair of shoes to go with it. When I’ve freshened up some, I walk back into the living room to find Justice standing near the window, his hands in his pockets as he gazes out the window. I take the time to stand and watch him, taking him in. He’s tall, with broad shoulders and dark hair that looks like he’s been running his hand through it. He looks … perfect.

“Are you ready?” I ask. He shoves off the wall and turns to look at me, a smile tugging across his face.

“Remind me to thank whoever got the clothes.” My cheeks heat.

“Thank you.”

“You ready? I’ve already told Tom we’re going out,” he says as he walks toward me, offering his hand. I reach out and take it in mine, loving the feeling that shoots through me. I nod my head as Justice leads me to the door. We step out the door as Tom nods his head at us, giving us the go-ahead. After being held captive in a hotel room, it feels strange to go out.

We walk to the car we have access to, but Justice glances around the area and shrugs.

“Why not walk. It’s a beautiful night,” he says.

“I’m good with that.” With our hands intertwined, we walk down the road toward the music in the distance.

“You’re tense,” he notes.

“Should I be?”

“No. Now’s the time to relax and enjoy, Skylar. He isn’t here. He isn’t coming here.”

“Is it weird I know they’re out there watching us?”

“Not really. That should be comforting, not strange,” he adds.

“I can’t even see them,” I tell him, causing him to laugh.

“You’re not supposed to.”

“That doesn’t make me feel better. A bunch of unknown men out there watching me?” Justice laughs again, a full-blown laugh this time, and it’s good to hear.

“I think I need a drink. Or three,” I mumble as Justice leads us along the sidewalk. Finally, he stops and pulls me into a bar, and I can breathe a sigh of relief.
