Ranger’s silent for a moment before letting out a low chuckle.
“Well, I’m happy itdidget out,” my lover growls. “I’m glad you made that video, Syd, because that’s what led me to you. And I didn’t anticipate that I would fall in love with you during your stay with me, but I did. So now, I want you to stay with me, Sydney,” he says in a fierce voice. “I know it’s a lot to ask because I’m such a fuck-up in every way possible, but the good part is that I own up to my mistakes. I swear, I’ll do better in the future, and if you’ll just give me a chance—”
But that’s when I throw my arms around his neck, surprising the big man.
“It’s fine,” I say, my own voice catching. “We’vebothmade mistakes and had to pay the price. But you know what? We will learn and grow, together, and we’ll figure it out, okay? Just one thing though.”
“What is it?” he asks, his voice rough.
“Do you love me?”
Ranger nods immediately.
“Yes, I do,” he says in a low voice. “I’ll say it again and again if that’s what it takes for you to believe me.”
I gasp then, my eyes filling with tears as I press myself against that huge, masculine form.
“I’m glad,” I confess in a trembling voice. “Because I love you too. Who would have guessed? The saucy escort and the CEO billionaire slash would-be air marshal. It’s pretty crazy, right?”
Ranger merely lets out a low growl before pulling me in for a kiss.
“No, it’s not crazy,” he whispers against my lips while staring soulfully into my eyes. “It’s perfect, sweetheart.”
With that, I’m swept away in my lover’s arms because both of us are insane people, come to think of it. I’ve made dirty videos where I’m taken in the pussy and ass by inanimate objects, whereas my man embarked on a second career that ended in utter disaster. But maybe two wrongs can make a right in this case, and with time, love, support, and endless forgiveness, Ranger Trenton and I will find our way forwards.
EPILOGUE
SYDNEY
Six months later.
“Hmm,” I murmur as I eye the living room. “I don’t know, I think the couch looked better over there, by the bay window.”
“Baby,” my man groans as he turns to look at me. “I’ve already moved it three times now. You swore you wanted it right here!”
I have to laugh because my boyfriend is so handsome and charming normally, but right now, Ranger looks like he’s about to pass out.
“Is that whining I hear?” I ask in a coo. “Are you trying to get out of moving the furniture again?”
Ranger merely lets out an exasperated sigh as those broad shoulders droop.
“No,” he says in a mock-resigned voice. “Whatever you want, sweetheart, is whatever you get. You know I only exist to keep you happy, Sydney,” he groans with dramatic flair.
That makes me giggle because my man and I are in a partnership more than anything else. After the incident at the TSA safe house, Ranger decided to leave London. Most of the clients from his consulting firm are here in New York, so it made sense to cross the pond. Plus, I’m not a British citizen, nor did I have any intention of staying in the UK any longer. My interlude there was crazy, wild, and all too much, and the time had come to depart. I just never imagined that I’d find the love of my life during a job.
But it’s worked out for the best. Ranger purchased a lavish penthouse here in NYC, and has been letting me decorate it to my heart’s content. I’m going for a modern luxe feel which means that our new beige leather couch should go by the window, instead of by the bar.
Meanwhile, Sam and Clement are locked up, thank goodness. We decided to press charges, and as a result, they were put in the slammer by London police immediately. I’m not sure what’s gong to happen because the officials are still fighting over jurisdiction. After all, the UK wants to try Sam and Clement on their soil, but the US claims they should be brought back to their home country. I don’t know what any of this means, but Idoknow that I’m looking forward to testifying against those two assholes. I mean, kidnapping, really? Plus, the best way to put something to rest is to look your tormentor in the eye while telling a jury your side of the story. Only then will justice be served, and I hope that my peers put Sam and Clement in the slammer for at least a decade or two.
Meanwhile, as Ranger busies himself rearranging the furniture once more, I stroll into the kitchen and begin icing a chocolate cake I baked this morning. Once that’s done, I plate a slice and walk back into the living room.
“Someone looks tired,” I tease when I see my man sagging on the huge sofa, his work for the moment done. “But I have a yummy reward for you.” When I get close enough, Ranger pulls me down onto his lap and I giggle as he presses a few kisses against my neck.
“Hey, watch the cake!” I exclaim.
“Screw the cake,” he growls. “You know we would be finished decorating by now if you weren’t so indecisive.”
I merely giggle again. “Maybe, but you love meandmy indecisiveness, so don’t complain.”
