The chaisein the library wasn’t as appealing without Quinn lying there with her beautiful face looking up at me. But it worked for a place to lay down for the night. I kicked off my shoes and used my jacket as a pillow.

Dominic sure had a knack for being a buzzkill. But Quinn was so much more than a buzz.

She was the one woman in the world that made me question my sanity. Less than twenty-four hours near her, and I was already considering what I could do to win her back.

One thing was clear. I needed her.

I woke up when the cleaning lady came in with her arms full of supplies.

“Oh!” she exclaimed. Two bottles fell to the ground. “My apologies, sir. I wasn’t expecting anyone to be in here so early.”

I got up and slipped my shoes back on while running a quick hand through my disheveled hair.

“No worries, I was just leaving,” I lied.

Tired beyond belief, I still managed a tiny smile when I picked up what she had dropped and handed it to her. She blushed and looked down.

I grabbed my jacket and phone. In the hallway, I checked to see if I had received a text from Quinn. Maybe she still had my number.

No dice.

Instead, I had a barrage of messages from my least favorite person.

Dominic:Get dressed.

Dominic:We have company with us today.

Dominic:She’ll be here by 10 am.

Dominic:I shouldn’t have to remind you that you are contractually bound.

What in the hell?I wondered.She?

“Hey, big bro!” My sister’s chipper voice called from the other side of the hall.

“Why are you up so early?” I asked her.

“Morning sickness. Bleh,” she said, holding her tummy.

She looked down the hall to the door I came out of.

“Where’s Quinn?” Her eyes glanced behind me questioningly. “Dray said he told you to find somewhere to sleep. Did you give her the room?”

I nodded as we walked to the dining room. The smell of bacon and caffeine wafted down the hall, and I breathed it in hungrily.

But Lucy grimaced and held her stomach.

The owners of the bed and breakfast had a buffet laid out for us.

“If you see Quinn, tell her I’m so sorry, and she can come to the room now. I’ll be in the bathroom.” Her face was pale.

“I’ll let her know. Are you ok?”

Before she could answer me, she was running down the hall to her room. Drayven popped out and held the door open for her, shutting it behind him as he made his way toward me.

“Boss.” He nodded my way. I rolled my head around my shoulders, trying to get the kink out of my neck.

“You sleep okay?”
