“Are you her uncles?”
Mack snorted, making Jace smile.
“No, gentlemen, she’s our woman,” Mack said.
“Both of you?” another cop asked.
Jace nodded. “Yes. We share her. Do you have a problem with that?”
“No, I just don’t think there are a lot of ménage relationships around.”
“There are more than you think,” Mack said.
“Okay, can you describe the man?” the cop asked.
“He was about your height, with straight brown hair and brown eyes. His hair was long and past his collar. He definitely needed it cut. He had a scar on his left cheek close to his ear. He was wearing all black and hadn’t shaved in a few days.”
Jace was so proud of her at that moment.
“This is good. Thank you, miss.”
“If you want, I can draw a picture of him,” Kaylin said.
The men looked at each other and shrugged.
“Sure. Have someone send a copy to the email on the card I’ll give you.”
“We can do that, “Jace said. He shook their hands and took the cop’s card.
“We’ll get in touch if we find anything.”
“Sounds good. Thank you, guys.”
They left, and the room was quiet and still.
“How do you feel, baby?” Jace asked Kaylin.
“Okay. I was shaky at first, but now that I’m with you guys, I feel safe again.”
Hell, did she know how those words made them feel? Like they were giants and superheroes.
“Good. We’ve got a little more work to do, but do you want one of us to take you home so you can nap?”
She shook her head. “I’ll start the picture of the man while you guys work, okay?”
“Sure, baby. Call out if you need us,” Jace said.
“I will.”
Jace watched her leave the office and wanted to snatch her back in the worst way.
“Who in the hell was threatening our little?” Mack said.
Jace wiped a hand down his face. “I have no idea, but we’ll find out. Do you think it’s someone who’s trying to hurt us?”
“That’s a possibility. Fuck, the only way we’re going to find out is if he hits again,” Mack said. “Fuck, the thought of that man being near Kaylin makes me sick.
“One of us will always be with her, and we carry firearms to protect her. Let’s just get her home. We all need to sleep.”
