“I’ve got her.” Hadley tilted the screen to show the glowing dot of the tracker. “She’s up one level. Come on.”

They headed back to the stairs. At the top, there were many guests, talking, flirting, laughing. But no sign of Kitty. The tinkling of fake laughter was grating.

“This way,” Hadley said.

They neared some of the private boxes on the opposite side of the theatre to Bennett’s. That’s when he heard Kitty’s voice.

“Quickly, come with me, Ajay. My husband’s here, and he can’t catch us.”

Fuck. Kitty and Ajay were coming this way.

Hadley spun Bennett. His back hit the wall, then she cupped his cheek and kissed him.

He took over, and turned them so she was trapped between him and the wall. She moaned, and he kept kissing her, only dimly aware of someone passing by.

Then Hadley tapped his arm. He pulled back, nipping her plump bottom lip. He liked that she looked a little dazed.

She glanced sideways. “Target acquired.”

Bennett saw Kitty with Ajay. The young man had thick, black hair and brown skin, and was wearing an ill-fitting suit. Damn, the young, stupid idiot. Bennett watched as Kitty stroked the man’s arm, and Ajay’s answering look of infatuation.

The couple disappeared down the stairs. Bennett grabbed Hadley’s hand and they followed. She smiled like they were just another couple out enjoying the night.

He liked it. He wanted her on his damn arm all the time. Wanted her smiling at him, glaring at him, rolling her eyes at him every day.

They reached the crowded lobby.

“Across the room,” she murmured. “Heading into the corridor.”

They followed, careful not to move too fast. When they slipped into the corridor, Bennett saw Kitty disappear around the corner.

They picked up speed, and then Hadley pressed her back to the wall and peeked around the corner.

“They’ve stopped,” Hadley murmured. “Kitty’s pulled something, a backpack, out of a side room.”

“Any sign of L’Orage?” Bennett asked.

Hadley shook her head. “It’s just the two of them. Ew. They’re kissing.”

Bennett gritted his teeth.

“Now they’re splitting up.Dammit. Ajay’s heading in through another door, and Kitty’s coming back this way. I’ll follow Ajay, you detain Kitty.” Hadley pulled out her phone. “Killian, close in.”

Bennett and Hadley moved back into the crowded lobby. Kitty and Ajay entered and were swallowed by the crowd. Bennett spotted the sparkle of a woman’s dress.

“Got her.”

“Crap,” Hadley said. “Ajay’s heading for the stairs.”

“What the hell is he doing?” Bennett said.

“Go. You get Kitty, I’ll stop him.”

Bennett pushed forward. Kitty was heading back toward her husband, a smug smile on her face.

The bitch.

There was a commotion. He glanced over and saw Ajay running for the stairs. Hadley was chasing after him. There were cries and cursing from the crowd, people stumbling to get out of their way.
