Her nails bit into his arm. “Bennett.”

“Come for me, beautiful. Give it to me.”

Pleasure swamped her. It felt like fireworks going off inside her, and she bit her lip to stifle her cry. Her body shook, and then his mouth was taking hers, swallowing any noise she made.

Her mind went blank; all her thoughts were on him, and the intense pleasure.

Slowly, reality seeped back in.

She opened her eyes and met his hazel ones. He smiled, his fingers still inside her. Her legs felt weak, and warmth filled her belly.

“Beautiful.” He pulled his fingers free and she bit her lip again.

Then he brought his hand to his mouth, putting his fingers between his lips and licking them clean, making a humming noise.

Her womb contracted.

“You should come with a warning,” she said huskily.

His grin flashed again.

Then the lights in the theatre rose. She blinked.

“It’s intermission,” he said.

They looked down, and saw Kitty and her husband rise with some of the guests.

“We need to get down there,” she said.

He nodded. “Let’s go.”

CHAPTERELEVEN

It was a bit of a surprise to realize it was hard to push the feel and sound of what he’d just done to Hadley from his head and focus.

He’d never had that problem in the military. He’d been known for being laser-focused. No woman had tempted him this much.

He followed Hadley down the wide, curved staircase. His gaze ran over her bare shoulders, delicate shoulder blades, and the way the dress clung to her.

She didn’t seem to have trouble putting it out of her head. His gut clenched. Damn, maybe she didn’t feel this insane attraction to the same level as him? Maybe she really could get him out of her system.

At the bottom of the stairs, she paused and met his gaze. Residual heat burned in her blue eyes.

Relief hit his gut like a punch.Scratch that. She felt the same.

The tension in him eased. He took her arm and led her into the crowd.

“Do you see her?” he murmured.

“No.” Hadley arched her head. “Her husband is near the bar. But no sign of her.”

“Dammit,” Bennett muttered.

They moved past Kitty’s husband. Bennett looked carefully at all the guests.

“She’s not here,” he said.

“Come on.” Hadley tugged him through a door and into a side corridor. It was wide, with red carpeting and elegant artwork. The restrooms were at one end, and only a few guests were milling around. They moved away from the guests, and Hadley pulled out her phone and tapped.
