Chapter 21

Willow

AFTER BRUSHING MY teeth, I dry my face then head into the closet to put away a little more of my stuff. Listening to the soothing sound of his deep voice I put stuff on hangers and place my things inside the drawers he cleaned out for me.

I figured at some point that Clay and I would move in together since I have been staying here with him every night since we officially became a thing. I just didn’t think it would happen so soon. But a few days after I got out of the hospital, while the two of us were lying in bed, he asked me to move in and I knew that there was no point in saying no. With him, I feel my safest, and after what happened, I didn’t want to put off being truly happy for any reason, so I said “Yes”. Thankfully Leah understood, so over the last few weeks I slowly packed up my stuff at her place to bring it all here.

Picking up a pair of pants from the floor, I realize they are the ones Clay had on earlier today, so I fold them in half and reach for a hanger. As I’m hanging them up, I hear a thud land against the carpeted floor and look down at my feet. When I see a small red box with gold etching around the edges my brows draw together and I pick it up, flipping open the lid without thinking.

“Oh my god!” I breathe, staring at the single princess cut diamond ring glittering back at me.

“I was going to ask you this weekend after I had a chance to talk to your dad.” Clay says from behind me, and I spin around to face him with my heart now beating a million miles an hour. “I even had a photographer scheduled to show up and capture the moment.” He steps toward me and takes the box from my now shaking hands.

“Clay,” I whisper, watching him pull the ring from the black velvet cushion protecting it.

“I love you.”

He captures my hand as my world starts to spin.

“I don’t even know the moment that happened, but I know you own all of me.” He lifts his head and his eyes lock with mine. “I promise if you agree to marry me that no one will ever love you more completely than I do, that you will always be safe with me, and that not a single day will go by where you do not feel just how vital you are to my survival.” He drops his gaze from mine to the hand he’s holding. “But there is no going back from this, Mouse. If I put this ring on your finger, it’s staying there forever, we fight, we fuck, and we work it out.”

“I wouldn’t want it any other way.” I capture his jaw with my free hand, and he lifts his eyes to mine. “I don’t even want to think about what I would be missing out on if you hadn’t been so—”

“Obsessed?” he cuts me off.

“Yes.” I laugh as I lean into him. “So, the answer to your question is ‘yes’ and it will always be ‘yes’.” The word yes ends on a gasp of breath when he presses into me and covers my mouth with his.

As he thrust his tongue between my lips, his hand slides up my sides taking the tank top I’m wearing with it, and I run my hands down his bare chest and under the edge of his sweats grasping his cock in my hand and squeeze.

“Fuck,” he groans, and I smile against his lips, then whimper when he lifts me off my feet and his cock bumps against my sex through the simple cotton covering me.

“Oh god,” I breathe, my head falling back to my shoulders as he carries me out of the closet and toward the bed, while his mouth works across the tops of my breast. When he lowers me to my back on the bed, my lashes flutter open.

“Clothes off,” he orders, standing back.

I watch him kick off his sweats.

Swallowing, I slip my panties down my thighs then sit up and take off my tank top. Once I’m naked, he climbs onto the bed with me using his knees to push my thighs apart and when his weight settles over me, I wrap my legs around him and lift my hips. “I need you.”

“You have me.”

“Then I want you inside of me.”

“Patience.” He sits back and then wiggles the ring I totally forgot about until right now off his pinky. “Now let me see your hand so that I can get down to properly fucking my fiancée.”

Laughing, I give him my hand, then with my breath stuck in the back of my throat, I watch him slide the ring down my finger. Once it’s in place he lifts my hand to his lips, kissing it before locking his eyes on mine.
