“Hell yeah!” Kaci crows. “Or even more, sweetie. Like I said, if they’ve had a good run at the tables, then it can be twenty, thirty, or more. Once, I walked out with a six figure chip.”
I stare.
“I didn’t even know those existed.”
Kaci winks.
“They don’t, unless you’re in the know. But let me know if you want me to hook you up. The Corinthian is always looking for pretty girls to hire.”
“Oh no, I couldn’t,” is my immediate reply.
Kaci blows out a breath and rolls her eyes.
“Don’t tell me you actually want to work at the church. I mean, how much do they pay you. Fifteen bucks an hour? Come on, Renee. You’re a smart girl! You know you can do better than that.”
I shake my head.
“No, no, it’s not the money, although yes, I’d love to make more. It’s because … well, I’ve been seeing someone for the last month or so,” I confess.
Kaci leans forward, her eyes dancing. “Oooh, goody. Tell me everything, girl. You know I want all the gossip. Who is it?”
I hesitate for a moment, but then decide to go for it. It’s been a month since Bridge and I started seeing each other actually, and I don’t want to hide anymore.
“Well, his name is Bridge—” I begin.
Kaci immediately stops me.
“Wait a second,” she says with confusion on her face. “You mean Elder Bridge Jessop? From church? There aren’t that many “Bridges” in the world, you know.”
I nod.
“Yep, that’s the one.”
Kaci stares at me, her jaw dropping open. “OMG, sweetie, I’m impressed because I never knew you had it in you. I’ve heard some rumors about Elder Jessop, of course. Specifically, that he’s hung like a horse. Is it true?” But then Kaci stops before giving me a measured look. “Please tell me you’ve slept with him. Please tell me that you’re not being all pure and virginal because of the Promise vow we took.”
I shift in my chair. “No, that’s pretty much gone by the wayside because he’s really hot. But I figured since Elder Bridge is a leader at our church, it’s okay, right?”
Kaci scoffs and rolls her eyes again.
“Sweetie, it has nothing to do with the church, but that’s for another time. Seriously, you have hit the jackpot because Bridge Jessop is insanely handsome, and incredibly wealthy too. All the girls at Sanctuary are going to be so jealous when you tell them who you’re dating.”
I giggle. “I know. He’s amazing, Kaci, and you have no idea how huge he is. He’s not hung like a horse; he’s hung like adragon.”
Kaci’s mouth drops open.
“Holy shit,” she whispers. “Like what are we talking? Eight inches? Nine?”
I nod, eyes wide.
“Ten. And I take it in my behind too.”
Kaci literally lets out a shriek then.
“Holy fuck, are you serious? You go, girl! This is what we get for not hanging out in over a month! It’s like you’re a whole different person, Renee,” she marvels.
I blush.
“Well, I don’t know about that.”
