“Are we done here?” I ask him, hoping that we are and we can leave.
He nods. “Yeah, baby, we’re done. We’re going home.”
“Baby?” Beth says in disgust.
“Let’s go,” Lucas says as he takes my hand.
“Yeah, Beth, he calls me baby and let me tell you, he’s not useless in bed. The man is fucking amazing.” I give her a sweet smile and follow Lucas out of the house.
God, it went a lot better than I had expected.
I just pray that this is the end of it.

Lucas
“Bro,” Grant says with amusement. “You definitely traded up, but your step-daughter?”
I glare at him. “Like you’re one to talk, how is Kelly these days?” His twenty-five-year-old step-daughter has been on my brother’s mind a hell of a lot longer than it should have been, considering he was married to her mother for four years before the bitch died.
His jaw clenches, and he glances away. “I haven’t spoken to her since Helen was lowered into the ground.”
His wife cheated on him, and since then Kelly hasn’t spoken to him, and she didn’t speak to her mom. No one knows what happened, and Kelly’s disappeared so no one has the answers. I know that my brother is worried about the woman, he wants her, I think he always has. But she’s off-limits because of how much he loved Helen—although that love died for the bitch when he found her in their bed with another guy—now he’s got no one. Thankfully he’s coming to work at my company, it’ll give him some purpose in his life.
“Cassie seems nice,” he remarks.
I nod. “She is, I’ve fallen for her,” I tell him honestly. I never thought that would happen, but the beautiful woman has knocked me for six. I’m sunk, and I don’t even care.
“She’s gone for you too, brother. Although, I’d watch out for her mom, that woman looks as though she’s about ready to cause some serious damage between you and your girl.”
I smirk. “Come on now, Grant,” I chuckle. “You seriously should know me better than this.” It’s been two days since the shit storm with Beth went down, and I’ve been in contact with my attorney, we’ve come up with an ironclad contract.
“Oh, do tell,” he grins.
“Beth and I are getting a divorce, she has two options,” I tell him. “She accepts the divorce and moves out of town on her own free will, and she’ll receive a settlement of five million dollars. Or she can make things harder, and I’ll take everything she has, and she’ll end up homeless and nowhere to go.”
“Ruthless,” Grant chuckles.
“Bet she took the first option and signed the contract,” Cassie says as she walks toward us.
“What are you doing here?” I ask her. She was at her friend’s house to give them presents. The Absyth family is the only family that Cassie has ever known, and they have helped her through her hardest times. For that, I know that she’ll love them forever.
“Things are a little tense at the house. Hazel blurted out she was pregnant, and then once her parents finally got over the news that not one but two of their daughters are pregnant, Hazel informed them about the father and let’s say it was less explosive at Beth’s.”
Jeez, now I’m curious as to who the hell the father is.
“But, yeah, Beth called, she’s pissed that you’ve taken away her revenge, and she’s doing her whole woe is me crap that she does. But she’s gone, and I no longer have to listen to her bullshit. So thank you, that was the best gift anyone could have given me.”
She’s in for a surprise if she believes that’s her gift. No, what I have for her is something that I think she’ll love.
“I’m going to the gym.” Grant tells us. “I’ll be back tomorrow.”
Cassie nods. “Sounds good, I’m cooking, and everyone’s coming.”
I pin her with a glare. “Who’s everyone?”
