He shook his head slightly but I understood the movement. “No.” His voice was a whisper. “This is too close to the others.”

I groaned. “You can yell at me after you’re healed.”

He would never be able to reach my neck, so I placed it right against his mouth. Caesar wasn’t getting a damned choice. I closed my eyes as he bit my neck. This was going to be a brutal feed, which I could tell before his mouth even met my skin.

Against my body, his shook.

I was already drinking orange juice by the time I was conscious enough to really understand what was happening. At some point, I must have sat up on the couch? Orange juice meant they’d been taking care of me, but only Ace was by my side at that moment. I was grateful for him but it was unusual. Then it dawned on me—the sun was shining.

Ace shouldn’t be up, either. But he was. That was when the door slammed open. I spun around. We were in so much trouble.
