“Fair enough. But she would have made a fortune.”

“Mmmhmm,” I mumble in agreement. I push her decaf coffee towards her, and she takes a big slurp as the remainder of the team enter the room, followed by Mr Garrett’s PA, Wendy.

She takes a seat next to the chair at the helm, looking like she is the important one here. I can’t help but laugh, because as soon as a new piece of skirt catches his eye, she’ll be out on her ear and we’ll all hear her cries of outrage from the street.

“Everyone get in positions,” she announces as she makes sure she’s perched so her tits are resting on the table. “Mr Garrett will be here in approximately two minutes, accompanied by the guest of honour.”

“Guest of honour?” Marcie whispers in my direction, and we both snigger, to which Wendy glares at us. I quickly school my face and we all wait for Mr Garrett and…

“Hey, what’s this guy’s name?” I ask Marcie, and she’s about to speak when the door opens and Mr Garrett walks in, followed by… “No fucking way,” I whisper quietly, but I know that Marcie heard me when she nudges my leg. I can’t look at her though, because I’m frozen in place.

Caleb Carter. Marketing guy.

Fuck.

I know my mouth has dropped open slightly, but I can’t seem to close it as his eyes land on mine and the corner of his mouth twitches slightly.

Oh my God, can things get any more fucking complicated?

I’m suddenly very glad I gave half my muffin to Marcie because my stomach is doing somersaults and I feel like I could throw up at any moment.

Mr Garrett leads Caleb to the top of the table, where two seats remain empty for them both, next to Wendy, and she looks absolutely delighted as Mr Garrett offers Caleb the seat closest to her.

How in the hell did I have no idea he worked in marketing? How? Just fucking how?

“Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce Mr Carter, head of marketing at Elite Enterprises.”

There are a few hellos mumbled from around the room, but I couldn’t speak if I wanted to. I’ve managed to close my mouth, but it feels as dry as the Sahara, again. This man affects me in ways I cannot explain.

“Good morning,” Caleb greets, and my eyes watch as Wendy physically swoons in her seat. Ugh, she has no shame. “I look forward to seeing what you have prepared for me today,” Caleb continues, and I know that I have about five seconds to get my act together because I am the opening speaker for today, meaning I get to kick things off… oh my days.

“Cameron, if you would like to begin,” Mr Garrett instructs, and I clear my throat as I rise to my feet and walk slowly to the opposite end of the table to Caleb—thank fuck for that. At least I’m not stood right next to him, smelling him…Now is not the time, Cam. Head in the goddamn game, come on.

Right. I am here for my career and to show what I can do. I’m not here to focus on how fucking delicious he looks in that suit, or how his eyes sparkle as they connect with mine.

“Whenever you’re ready,” Mr Garrett prompts, but I hear the firmness in his tone.

Oh gosh, here goes nothing…

ChapterNine

Caleb

Fuck me, she looks like a dream as she stands at the end of the room and commands it with the way she speaks. I knew she worked here, but in my defence, I only found out yesterday afternoon, once Anthony, my boss, had given me the meeting notes to look over. Her name had been at the top of the list, and I had near enough had a heart attack from seeing it written there. I had toyed with myself all night about pulling out and letting someone else take this gig, but I’m good at my job, and having only recently been employed by Elite Enterprises, I don’t want to give them any reason to doubt my ability. Not that they would when I have the best references, and the fact that the owner is a friend of mine and we go way back helps, but still.

The lights in the room dim slightly as Cameron turns the projector on, talking through each slide, showing her passion for the ad campaign her and the team have created. I struggle to focus solely on the screen, because good God, when she turns and bends over to grab a prototype they’ve made up, I nearly cum in my pants. Her arse is so round and perfect, and I have to push all thoughts from my mind of how I used to sink my fingers into her cheeks as I fucked her hard before taking her slow.

Focus, Caleb. You’re in a meeting, for God’s sake.

Cameron concludes her part of the presentation a few minutes later, and then I find my focus easier as the other team members take their turns at trying to convince me to bring my boss in and become their client. They don’t need to convince me though. They had my approval the minute I saw Cameron worked here. I knew with her input, it would be fucking stellar, and I wasn’t wrong as the whole meeting runs to perfection and their hard work is clear to see.

When the presentation wraps up an hour after it started, they all sit in their seats and look my way expectantly.

I turn to look at Mr Garrett, and he takes that as his cue to thank the team for their work and to dismiss them. They all start to gather whatever they brought in with them and then file their way out of the room. Cameron is last to leave, along with another woman called Marcie, who has the curliest hair I’ve ever seen. She’s attractive too, but not a patch on Cam. No one is a patch on Cam. It’s been three years and her beauty has never been matched, and I believe it never will be. But then something on her wrist catches my attention as the sleeve of her shirt shifts up a little when she reaches for the door handle.

Wait… is that a bruise?

She’s quick to pull her shirt back down, clearly thinking it’s gone unnoticed.
