I walked as fast as my short legs could carry me.

Quickly walking into the apartment building, I collapsed against the wall. My pulse was racing, and my mind was in a haze.

I looked back through the glass door, not seeing him anymore.

Taking a few deep breaths, I tried to calm down. But the hot sensation between my legs lingered.

Chapter 2

Grant

Tianawaslying.

She didn’t have a boyfriend. I could sense an unmated Omega when I saw one. There was no way she could be attracted to a basic human. Let alone having a human boyfriend. I could smell it in her scent as she stalked away from me.

She was definitely unmated.

I never thought I’d find her in my wildest dreams.

She smelled like strawberry, and my senses were on alert when she was near me. But she wasn’t going to be mine, so I had better get my act straight. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialed Antonio’s number urgently as I watched Tiana walk farther away.

“Yo, yo,” greeted Antonio.

“Tony, I found her,” I said.

“God damn, after all these years?!”

“She must have been hiding or taking her omega heat suppressant pills,” I said, trying to think of how this elusive omega survived for years without a werewolf pack to protect her. But I smelled her omega scent in this town, and finally tracked her down.

“It looks like our mission here on the human lands is done,” said Tony. “It’s sad because the humans love my guitar playing.”

“You’ve gotten attached to human life,” I said dryly. “Tell Wesley the good news. We’ll meet up tomorrow and go through all her files. We have her name now.”

“Sounds good, undercover cop,” said Tony. “I can’t wait to go back home. I almost forget what Howl’s Edge looks like.”

“Same here. Let’s hope Tiana agrees to go with us.”

“Is that her name? Is she hot?”

“She’s not for us, Tony!” I said. Knowing I couldn’t have her for myself bothered me, and I didn’t know why. I barely knew her, for fuck’s sake. “We were here for one mission, and that’s to get her home.”

“Shit, calm down,” said Tony.

“I want to see you and Wesley tomorrow at 11 am sharp at the police department.”

“You got it.”

I hung up, stuffing my phone back in my pocket irritably. I looked around, not seeing Tiana anywhere. I ran towards the dumpster and hid behind it to strip my clothes off. Shifting into my wolf form would help sniff her out. Plus, it was already nighttime, so no one would see me. I bundled my clothes in a pile, hoping no one would steal my shit.

Fur shot out from every part of my body and my body lowered to the ground.

Long, sleek and powerful.

Crossing the road, I followed the path Tiana had taken. Lifting my snout in the air, I could smell a hint of her strawberry scent.

I followed her scent.

Her scent was soft yet elusive, and I felt myself responding to it on a deeper level. I haven’t been around an omega wolf for more than twenty years. I’ve had human girlfriends now and then, but they were never long-term. At the age of thirty-nine, I was tired of the human ladies.
