“Can you elaborate on what business you speak of?”

“I told you I intend to find out whether the text that was sent to me is true or not. I won’t give up until my curiosity is fully satisfied.”

Her cheeks reddened and she retorted, “Then you’ll be curious the rest of your life.”

“I think you and I both know that’s not true. You and I also both know that you enjoyed last time, even if you’ll never admit it,” I replied, turned on by the thought. Feeling my blood rush south, I shifted a bit so my thoughts wouldn’t reveal themselves physically, pushing the vision from my mind. “What time are you free tomorrow?”

“I’ll be busy all day,” she replied curtly, crossing her arms. I couldn’t tell if she was playing with me or if there was something unwelcoming in her response.

“What are you so busy doing?” I tried to draw more information out of her.

“I have to work,” she responded, keeping her arms crossed.

“And when do you get out?” I tried again.

“It’ll be too late to do anything. I’ll be there until four.”

“Then I’ll see you tomorrow in front of the café when you get out. You know what my car looks like.” I waited for her response. When she didn’t say anything, her arms still crossed, staring at me with her mouth open, I leaned forward and quietly teased, “You didn’t do your homework. I thought you were a better student than that.”

“What?” She furrowed her brows in confusion.

“You were supposed to text me all of your dreams.” I smirked. “But don’t worry, I’m pretty creative and can just work with my own.” I winked at her. “Trust me. They’re good and you won’t be disappointed.”

She blushed and opened and closed her mouth like a fish. I couldn’t help but smile at how cute she looked, perhaps looking forward to the next day a little too much.

Chapter 11

Jasmine

Iknew, logically,Ishould say no. I knew I should reject the far-too-smug alpha. But something inside me wouldn’t allow me to do it. I had been feeling a yearning blossom within me. I loved how he broke down all my barriers and made me feel desired. After being Perfect Jasmine for so many years, it was energizing to do something so rebellious and wrong for once in my life.

That was why, without argument, I found myself at the front of the café, looking forward to the evening. I had told my parents I would be eating dinner with friends that night so they wouldn’t expect me at home. As soon as I exited work, I spotted his Jeep parked across the street and walked over. He opened the passenger door for me and helped me in.

Once he hopped into the driver’s seat, he turned to me. “I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable, but I’d like to invite you over to the packhouse. The parents are out of town on pack business and the staff doesn’t work on Mondays, so we’ll be the only ones there and won’t be disturbed.” I furrowed my brows and he continued, “I promise I’d never do anything against your will. I just want to spend some time with you.” Then he added, bringing his face closer to mine, “But I also can’t guarantee you’ll be able to resist my pheromones while in close, intimate quarters with me.”

“You do realize you previously took me into the middle of the woods where no one would have heard me scream.”

“That’s true, but I don’t want you to think my only intention is to get in your pants. It’s one of my top intentions, but not the only one.”

“So much for not screwing around with pack members.”

“Eh, rules are made to be broken. I have a feeling you wouldn’t slash my tires at least.”

“Is that something that’s happened?”

He chuckled then replied, “It’s not really funny. I feel kind of bad about it now. But I had been seeing someone prior to meeting Ria, and I sort of ghosted her heartlessly.” I narrowed my eyes at him. He continued, “I was only eighteen and pretty dumb. I’d be more tactful today. Anyway, she obviously didn’t take it well. After slashing my tires, she ran after me with a baseball bat at school asking why I didn’t love her.”

“Holy shit! Where is she now?”

“She met her mate when she turned eighteen and she’s married with a pup now.”

“That’s good, I guess. Who are all these girls that you were hooking up with in high school anyway? I think Lucy’s the only girl I knew who had a boyfriend. Well, Emma was with Kyle, too, but they ended up being mates.”

“Everyone hooks up, just no one talks about it.”

“Not everyone!”

“Well, apparently not you.”
