I knew I couldn’t avoid it, so I confessed. “He gave it to me at temple one day, after the service, so I could text him my address. He wanted to hang out with me that day, but we had to wait until my parents left.”

“What! You’ve been sneaking around, and I had no idea? So, what happened?” Lucy pushed my shoulder, her eyes wide.

“Well, he took me to a mountain, and we hiked. Then we talked,” I replied, trying to make it seem like not a big deal.

“What else happened?” she asked loudly, her eyes bugging out.

“Nothing. We just talked and went home,” I replied quietly, hinting to keep her voice down.

She didn’t look convinced. “Are you sure you’re not hiding anything from me? That man is fucking hot as hell. I can’t believe you didn’t do more than that. If I were you and alone with him, I’m pretty sure I’d give up my virginity right there and then, birth control be damned.”

“No, nothing else happened, I swear. We just talked and that’s it. There’s not more to the story.”

“Okay, I’ll believe you for now. But if anything else happens, you better tell me right away. I’ve been waiting for years for your wild side to come out! I knew it was hiding somewhere inside you!”

“There’s no wild side.”

“So, what does the text say then?” She already knew my password and punched it in. She read the text out loud. “Let’s go swimming again today, this time no underwear, winky face.” Her eyes narrowed at me. “What does that mean? You went swimming in yourunderwear? It sounds like you may have left some details out of your story.”

“Why are you reading my personal text messages?” I screamed at her, annoyed at her antics.

“Because you’re clearly not telling me the whole story, so I have to find out other ways. So come on, let it out, tell me what you’re hiding.”

I knew there was no way out of it now. “Okay, well, we hiked down to a pond and went swimming in our underwear. Then we lay out on a blanket that he brought. But that’s it, nothing else happened. We didn’t kiss or anything else.” Although, I supposed silently, we may have skipped first base and almost gone straight to second, but Lucy didn’t need to know that. I couldn’t even admit this was all happening to myself, let alone to Lucy. Especially after I’d made such a big deal to her about how Blake and I were never happening. Okay, I did really enjoy the feel of his hands on my body. Even thinking about it now was giving me a warm feeling and butterflies in my stomach. But then there was another part of me that felt shame that I had wavered on my morals, given in to Blake’s touch, and enjoyed it far too much.

She then started a speech-to-text while she held me back with her free hand. “We don’t need no pond, I’m already wet and ready for you, period, my work shift ends at ten.”

“What are you doing?” I tackled her, grabbing my phone to see that her text was already sent.

Shit, shit, shit.

I watched as three dots appeared, indicating he was typing back, and a new text appeared on the screen.

Blake Sexy AF:Good, I’m thirsty.

I looked up at her with daggers in my eyes. How could she think that what she had done was okay?

At exactly ten, his Jeep parallel parked in front of the café. With a huge smile on her face, Lucy rushed to open the door. I followed right behind her. I couldn’t lie, he looked delectable wearing aviator sunglasses and a thin T-shirt that showed the outlines of all his well-sculpted muscles.

Lucy pulled me out of the café with her, undid the strings to my apron, pulling it off me, and pushed me toward him. “Now, have fun! And Jaz, you better share every last detail when I call you tonight. I want a firsthand account of what it’s like to sleep with an alpha.” She gave Blake a quick wink before she shut the door.

“Sounds like I have an audience now, so I better make it really good.” He elbowed me playfully.

I slapped his arm. “Don’t listen to her.”

Once we were both seated in his car, he leaned over to me. “I know Lucy was the one that sent that text, but I want to know if it’s true.” He leaned toward me and began rubbing his hand on the inside of my thigh, inching it under the skirt I was wearing. His fingers traveled north, until they were tracing the hem of my panties. My heart raced and my breathing shallowed. My whole body was becoming aroused, a hot shiver expanding from my inner thighs to the rest of my body. My legs tingled, the apex of them throbbing, desperate for him to keep going. I slapped his hand away, my brain finally catching up with my hormones. Damn that felt good, but no! It was wrong. He withdrew his hand and put his car into reverse. “I intend to find out.”

“Keep dreaming!” I replied, not wanting him to know how much I just enjoyed that.

He drove to and parked in the same area as last time, immediately exiting the car and coming around to my side. Upon opening my door for me, he held his hand out to help me down. He grabbed his backpack from the back seat and led me to the base of the mountain so we could hike to the top. Once we got to the summit, he spread the blanket out for us to sit down and pulled out some sandwiches.

“I put a little more effort into lunch today.” He grinned and handed me a ham and cheese sandwich and a water bottle. We sat in silence, eating our sandwiches, looking over the landscape of trees below, a carpet of green forest, with openings for bodies of water. I spotted the pond where we had gone swimming below, the sun reflecting off it, giving it a glass-like appearance. The view was spectacular, and I could see why Blake liked coming here.

“Do you bring all your girls here?” I asked, suddenly wondering if I was just one of the many girls he was hanging out with, especially after his revelation of how he was in high school.

“No, I’ve never brought anyone else here before. I only recently discovered this place. Why, would you be jealous?” He had a twinkle in his eye.

“What, no!” I exclaimed. “I was just curious about who else you hang out with. Do you bring the others somewhere else?”
