“Yea, yea,” is all I say before hanging up.

Canon and I collect our things and throw away our trash in silence, driving back home with a charged energy I didn’t think could magnify.

Chapter 14

Canon

I pull into the parking lot behind Floaty Feelings, parking the BMW that I don’t want to take where I'm going.

It already draws enough attention and I don’t need anymore. Kane insists I drive it every time I leave the house, and I don’t have time to explain to him why I can’t drive this car everywhere I go.

I told Ian to come pick me up from my job, so I walk around to the front to wait for him outside.

Sure enough, in pure Ian fashion, he pulls up about 15 minutes late.

“Took you long enough,” I shoot towards him as I climb into the passenger side of his truck.

“I think I’m right on time. These guys don’t have anything better to do anyway.” These guys as in the distributor we’re meeting up with to pick up the product for The Southside Crew.

This should be the last drop we do, because after this, we’ll have the money we need to put a deposit down on the warehouse for our club.

We scheduled the drop for early in the morning because we need to meet with the realtor later on today to give our deposit.

“How ya feeling though? You look like you found out you got a one night stand pregnant.” He laughs at his joke.

“I’m good. Just ready to be done with this shit and open the club.” I say while looking out the window. I didn’t exactly lie, but I can’t tell him I'vebeen replaying the beach incident with Demi in my head for the past couple days.

“Don’t worry bro, it’ll all be over soon.” Ian says.

The drop took longer than expected, so now we’re cutting it close to the meeting with the realtor.

When we get there, we’re the only ones in the parking lot so it looks like we still managed to beat her out here.

“If we were late, I would’ve had to beat your ass,” I half joke to Ian as we walk up to the front doors of the warehouse.

“You can try, little Canon, but I’ve been working on my fighting down at that gym in the city.” He puts his hands up and enters a fighting stance, bouncing back and forth on the tips of his toes.

“I hope you haven’t been using your deposit money to pay for that expensive ass membership.” They have a daycare and a Starbucks in there so I know it’s expensive as fuck.

“Nah, I just know a guy who owes me a favor.”

I know everyone Ian knows and none of them can afford any membership fees for some fancy gym in the city. I’m about to ask him about it when my phone pings.

“That's probably the realtor,” I say as I pull my phone out of my pocket. It pings again as I unlock it.

It’s definitely not the realtor.

Demi

Realized I forgot to send you this picture.

“Damn, you fucking the realtor? I should’ve known that’s how we got the deal on the deposit.” Ian’s voice pulls me from remembering how Demi’s lips felt on mine two days ago.

“What? No.” Is all I say, but Ian has already made his way over, glancing down at my phone.
