“Hesitate to do what?” I asked.
“We’ll talk about it when I get back.”
“You’re not doing anything that might get you killed or imprisoned, are you?” I bit my lip. “Or get Rabbit killed or imprisoned?”
“I’m not going to lie to you, Sierra, so I’m not gonna answer that question.”
“Booth, please don’t do anything stupid.”
“When have you ever known me to do anything stupid?”
“I don’t think you want me to answer that question,” I breathed out.
“I’m gonna ignore that,” he said.
“What about Teddy?” I asked, hoping to pull on his heartstrings.
“Baby, I spoke to Teddy earlier, we’re all good. Wyatt’s got him well in hand and distracted. But nice try.”
“Please let me come there,” I begged.
“No.”
I scowled. “You realize I’m a grown woman and there’s nothing stopping me from getting on a goddamned plane.”
“I do realize that, Moonbeam. However, I’d greatly appreciate it if you’d stay put.”
Fucking feral cat voice.
“And if I don’t?” I challenged.
“Love that sass, beautiful. Can’t wait to take you over my knee and spank the shit out of your ass then ram my dick deep in your pussy until you’re drippin’ in response, but until then, I’m gonna trust you’ll stay right where you are until I get back.”
“Yeah, but what if I decide I’m not going to cancel my flights, and I get a recruit to drive me to the airport and join you?”
“If, on the off-chance, you find a recruit willing to die in order to drive you to the airport, I will have your brother figure out a way to flag you so you’re on some kind of no-fly list.”
“I can get around that,” I said.
“In time?”
“Maybe,” I hedged.
“Then, I’ll make it easy on myself.”
“Oh, yeah?” I pressed.
“I’ll fuckin’ lock you down,” he growled.
There it was.
“I should have stayed at Quantico.”
“You gonna keep bustin’ my balls or can I go do what I need to do so I can get home to you and deal with your attitude?”
I shivered. “I kind of want to keep busting your balls.”
“Sierra,” he warned.
