“Don’t give a fuck. He doesn’t talk to you that way.” I crossed my arms. “No one does.”

“I’m sorry, sweetheart,” Sundance said.

“Oh my god, Sundance, you don’t have to apologize. If I was offended, I’d have a conversation with you myself.” She craned her head and glared up at me. “Remember what we talked about?”

I cocked my head. “Don’t give a fuck.”

She rolled her eyes. “You need to slow your roll there, Daddy Cakes, we have bigger issues than your concerns about how I’m spoken to right now. Jaws has gone to ground and he’s being smart enough to hide from both meandRabbit, which means he’s unfindable. At least right now.”

“Why the fuck would he disappear?”

“We think it has something to do with the gun buy,” Sundance said. “Raven works in the shadows and would insist Jaws do the same.”

“I thought you said you had eyes on Jaws at all times,” I hissed.

“Although we’ve known about the gun deal for a while, it wasn’t supposed to go down for a few months. Honestly, we thought we had more time.Looks like something has caused an escalation in the timeline.”

“Yeah, you mentioned the deal in the meetin’.” I dragged a hand down my face. “But I’ve never known the Predators to be in the arms game before.”

“Not the Predators. Just Jaws,” Taxi clarified. “This is something he’s doing at the behest of Raven, independent from the club.”

“Why would he do that?”

“We think it’s an olive branch, but we’re gonna make sure the appearance of sonny boy disrupts both Raven and Jaws’s plans.” Taxi raised his hand and pointed at Sundance. “You know, this escalated timeline could actually work to our advantage.”

“How so?” Sundance asked.

“While Jaws is laying low, his club is vulnerable. I’m gonna do some snooping around and see if I can exploit the situation. Maybe even see if I can flip one or two of his club members.”

“Jesus. You don’t think you’re pressing your luck enough as is?” Sundance asked.

“I haven’t even started,” Taxi replied.

Sierra closed her laptop. “So, what do you want to do, Taxi? We can’t do the op without Jaws, and I don’t know when he’s going to resurface.”

“She’s right,” Sundance said. “There’s no point in you hangin’ around waitin’.”

“Cramping your style?” Taxi taunted.

Sundance smirked. “If Sierra finds him, the club’ll foot the bill bringin’ you back.”

“Excuse me.WhenSierra finds him, thank you very much,” she corrected.

“Right. Sorry. When you find him,” Sundance grumbled.

“I guess that’s it for now,” Taxi said. “Thank you all for your time.”

“Good, I’m starving,” Sierra said. “Come on, Daddy Cakes. Time for you to take me out. I’m thinking Italian. Maybe Toscana’s?”

“Sure thing. I just need to talk to Sundance and Taxi in private for a quick second. You go on and get ready and I’ll be right there.”

Sierra looked at me suspiciously, but acquiesced. “Don’t be long,” she said closing the office door behind her.

“Look,” I said, making eye contact with both Sundance and Taxi. “I know it’s ultimately Sierra’s decision to do this work, but I swear to whatever god either of you believes in, that if one fuckin’ hair on her perfect head is harmed, you’ll have me to deal with. Whatever oaths have been sworn, or plans that have been agreed upon, they won’t mean shit to me. If she comes back to me altered in any way, I will alter your world in every way I can.”

“I’m giving you a wide birth, Wrath. Best you don’t test how wide,” Sundance said.

“Nothing is more important in this world than that woman, Sunny. Nothing. She’s the only thing that keeps me from burning this whole goddamned world to the ground sometimes.”
