“I said suck me!” I roared at the purple nymph. She had been trying to get me erect for what felt like too long. Part of me started believing that little human put me under a spell, but I knew their core magic was gone for such uses.

When the two nymphs scissoring each other next to me on the bed didn’t arouse me, I knew something else was at play. Shoving the luscious creature between my legs away, I stood off the corner of my white bed and did up my leather pants. Somehow, my penis was still completely flaccid, not even a chub had formed from all her hard work, and she was my favorite for a blow job.

“Something is wrong with me,” I growled in anger. I could hear the purple one’s agreement from how hard she had to work.

Storming from my room, I charged toward the kitchen, knowing they were all there eating my supplies down for themselves. Trekking down the dark corridors of my home, I felt… too much. Usually, I was numb to it all, but ever since that rendezvous in the library, I couldn’t turn off this irrational guilt.

Muttering curses, I paused by the door of the kitchen to listen when I heard my name come up. It was Cullen, knowing how I’d react to their true shenanigans. “You two are left to get it done. The faster you do, the faster we unlock our powers.”

“Is that why you lied to her?” Peeking just around the corner, I found Bain sipping warm grog from the pot on my stove where the fire was still lit below to keep it hot. I had no doubt Fergus threw it together with how he was with herbs.

“Can we not get into it?” Cullen tried to sway the conversation away from whatever topic revolved around the female they brought.

“Fine.” Bain set his drink down. “Let’s get into the hairy bits where we will be stuck with her for the rest of eternity as our only sexual companion.”

“Bain,” Cullen sighed.

“Um, what?” Alasdair paused his drink to think through what Bain just told him.

“The champion will be the only woman you’ll bed again, if you go through with the ritual.”

Fergus shrugged, knowing his answer already. “I do not mind, if that’s the price we pay, it’ll be worth it.”

“You’re only saying that because not many nymphs want to fuck you. Hell, not many fae women do either,” Alasdair was being his typical version of an ass, laughing at the expense of Fergus’s quiet ways.

“Shut up, Alasdair. She’s already agreed and knows what the cost is,” Cullen chided from his side of the kitchen, farthest from me.

“Well, I’m glad someone knew the cost,” I growled, announcing myself.

All four of them froze in their spots, silencing at my entrance. Fueled by anger, I wasn’t afraid to face a single one of them. Thanks to the horror stories made up in my name, they showed their fear of me instantly.

“So, you came under the guise that my mother needed a book, but that wasn’t why you came, was it?” I slammed my fist against my large table they gathered around.

“We did come for the book,” Cullen cut me off from having my tantrum fully. “When we found the ritual for unlocking our primal forms, we knew you wouldn’t be quite as willing with not wanting to help us already.”

“So you fucking tricked me into sleeping with your champion? And who even picked her? She’s a simple human girl!” I shouted at them, hating her for their choice.

“Your mother picked her,” Fergus responded first, bowing his head in respect. “Right before she moved on, she gave us a weapon that only one person could use. She said it had to be the one that was touched but never killed by Morrigan.”

“My mother is gone?” I nearly choked on my tongue while repeating that. A flare of pain radiated in my chest, knowing it had to be true. I no longer felt her curse looming over me, but it took me until now to notice.

“She died to protect Faerie. Which is a lot more than you can say,” Alasdair huffed at me.

All at once, it hit me. There was a reason their human looked so familiar to me, and why she responded to my face the way she did. It wasn’t over my scar like I initially thought. Backing away from the others, I couldn’t let them see me fall apart. When Fergus mentioned the one who was touched but never cursed, I knew that line came from somewhere because my mother had said it to me upon her return to our lands.

I knew exactly who she meant because she was supposed to marry my brother. I had just mated Muir’s fiancée in a way that would merge us forever. Her name sat on the tip of my tongue as I stumbled down the hallway to my room.

Briar Rose.

The fairest princess in all the kingdoms of Earth. I remembered her beauty from a century ago, but so much time had passed, I didn’t think she was alive now. If she was here, then maybe my brother was joining us as well.

With so much to think about, I slammed my bedroom door and let my mind wander. Cullen had to explain himself to the others, but I had to come to terms with having a forever mate. The primoradial ritual was one that would manifest our truest nature, creating our primal counterparts. No wonder the little vixen bit my lip when I was climaxing inside of her. She was establishing the blood bond at the right moment.

Opening my door, I found my nymphs lining my bed for our typical nightly fun. “Go find Alasdair. He’ll need a night of mourning before sewing his final oat,” I whined in a way that told them I needed privacy.

They all slinked out of my room, leaving me with the absence of a companion. Which had been the last century of my life anyway. Solitude had plagued me since that fretful day my mother cursed me.

Now, I was free, but that freedom just came with a new shackle in the form of a mate. The very one I was jealous of my brother having dibs on.
