An hour later, when she still wasn’t down with the rest of us, I went upstairs to check on her. The sun had dipped below the horizon, casting everything in the warm glow of twilight. As I inched the door open, I found her curled up on her side, sound asleep, still dressed in the clothes she’d worn on the airplane. She was snoring softly, and I couldn’t keep from reaching down and grabbing the blanket folded neatly at the edge of the bed. I tugged it up and covered her.

“Goodnight, hen. I’ll see you in the morning.”

I couldn’t help myself. I dropped a kiss to her temple and inhaled her perfume. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about this woman, and that was no surprise to me because I’d been attracted to her since the day we first met. But now, watching her in my family’s home, interacting with my relatives, I knew I was in too deep.

But I didn’t see a damn thing wrong with that.

BECCA

The soft click of the bedroom door shutting woke me from a sound sleep. A blanket was draped over my body, the spicy scent of Taylor washing over me.

“Taylor?” I whispered.

“Shh, lass. It’s late. Go back to sleep.”

“What time is it?” I fumbled for my phone, which I’d put on the charger next to the bed.

“It’s two in the morning.” He sat down on the side of the bed and rested his elbows on his thighs.

“And you’re just coming to bed?”

“I was catching up with my sister and her husband. Time slipped by.”

The scent of Scotch on his breath told me exactly how time had done that. Then it hit me.

“Oh, shit. Dinner. I’m so sorry. I just laid down and planned to close my eyes for a minute.”

He chuckled.“We waited for you, but after you didn’t come down, Mum told us to go ahead.”

“Why didn’t you come wake me up?”

“Oh, lass, I tried. Mum threatened to disown me if I disturbed you. She said you needed your beauty sleep and that dinner would keep and not to wake you if I wanted to see morning.”

“Wow. The great Taylor Savage, taken out at the knees by his mommy.”

“You clearly don’t know her.” He reached over his head to pull off his shirt in that sexy way men had, and I lost track of what he was saying because... God bless hockey.

The way he moved, like it was second nature, like men were taught this skill in after-school classes during their formative years, had me biting my lower lip and watching him intently. I could just picture it. A coach giving notes. ‘Here’s how to seduce someone, boys. Make sure you flex too. Really give ‘em a show.’

I swallowed a little moan at the sight of him, that shirt slipping off his body, muscles shifting as he moved, moonlight casting shadows in all the right places.

“Thirsty, lass?” His low rumble had my mouth dry but my pussy wet.

“Yes.”

He grinned as he unzipped his suitcase and pulled out a pair of pajama pants and a white shirt. “Let me get changed, and we’ll go downstairs for a wee nip, yeah?”

“Aren’t you tired?”

He shrugged. “You’re awake, which means you’re going to talk my ear off when you realize you can’t get back to sleep. Better to just accept it.”

I shivered as I sat up, and the blanket fell to my waist. “It’s cold in here.”

“Old house. Drafty.”

I didn’t miss the way his gaze focused on my chest. Especially after I remembered I’d taken my bra off as soon as he’d left me in the room. There was nothing better than taking off that torture device after a long day.

“Let me... get you something to wear.”
