“William, I want you in a way that would be impolite for me to describe.”

He quietly walked over and took a chair from the corner of the room and propped it up under the doorknob so that it would not be easily opened. “I will be honest. You are the most forward woman I have ever met. Never has a lady of thetonbeen so aware of the act.”

“If I am not meant to know what is that I shall not do, then how must I know what not to do?”

He drew back, trying to wrap his mind around what she had said. “You are avoiding it, then?”

“I have said it once and I will say as much again: I hate to be told what to do.” She said. “So the answer is no. However, do not think yourself to be that fortunate. I do not appreciate you that much.”

He chuckled, watching her. “Do you appreciate me at all?”

“Mm,” she tilted her head. “A bit, I suppose.”

She crossed the room until she was in front of the desk. William reached out, cradling her face in his hands. She stilled, feeling a thorned shiver race through her body. Just the touch of his hand on her cheek was enough to melt her. He pulled her face towards him and captured her lips in a kiss. Somehow–and maybe it was because she was so vulnerable as it was–she was no longer embarrassed by her emotions.

She whimpered softly and wrapped her arms around his neck. He deepened the kiss, sliding his tongue across her lips until she parted them eagerly. A ripple of pleasure trailed down her back, followed by his arms. He wrapped them around her waist and parted from her lips.

She stared up at him, her blood running hot, her fingers aching with desperation, and her lips reliving every moment. Before she could startle, He lifted her off the ground and slid her seated onto the desk. Awards and trinkets tipped and fell off the desk, hitting the floor with a thud.

William came towards her, and she opened her legs to allow him closer. He buried his mouth into the crook of her neck, and for a moment, he simply caught his breath. The warm air and the shiver of his lips so close to her skin made her moan in anticipation. He ran his mouth down her neck, pressing gentle kisses across it and then over her collarbone.

Around her thighs, the skirts of her dress were bunched up. She pressed her legs around his hips, tugging her towards him and grasping at his soft brown hair. The soft noises she coaxed from his throat were reward enough.

“Excuse me,” she stopped him. He looked up at her. His cheeks were flushed and he panted before her, hair messy. She felt her heart leap wildly before she continued. “Do you think that you will tire of this?”

He shook his head in confusion.

“I mean, do you think that this will just run its course? Like the way you have to wait out a fever before it comes down?”

He leaned in, pressing his nose back against the side of hers and hovering over her mouth. “I do not know, but right now it feels impossible to stop.”

Charlotte pulled him back in by the collar of his shirt. Her fingers ran up, tugging at his hair, her lips starving for his. He tasted heady like the red wine they had been drinking all night. This kiss was going to her head far faster than the alcohol. She was dizzy, light, and yet incredibly desperate for more. She pressed the pads of her fingers into the back of his neck, opened her legs wider, and pulled him close until there was nothing keeping them apart.

Charlotte’s lips found his neck and she explored it, taking her time to see which areas provoked him to make the most noise. She bit softly at the base of his throat and listened to him grunt and whisper her name. The thought that he was completely at her mercy made her feel a heat and urgency growing between her legs. Whatever she would give to him, he seemed to think he was fortunate enough to receive even though the truth was that she was just as lucky.

Before she even knew what she was doing, she found herself bucking her hips into him. He returned the gesture, rocking back against her. She never expected for it to feel so good. It was such a simple touch and yet it made her weak and desperate. He was equally in awe with how much he was grunting in her ear.

For her first kisses to be so full of passion was something unreal. Much better than fumbling around awkwardly in your wedding bed for ten minutes before falling asleep. At least that was what she heard it was like. It seemed the sort of thing you might want to practice several times before making an evening exclusively out of it.

No. This was real. This was so much more than what thetonwould have her believe. This was passion and feeling on a level above. This was something new and bold and reckless.

Their kiss softened. The break away was imminent, but before it happened, Charlotte stole as many soft kisses from his lips as he would give her before they finally parted. He ran his hands over the curve of her hips and down her thighs before he stepped away from her.

She stayed seated on the desk, eyes closed, still savoring the feeling. “I have um…” still spent, she caught her breath. “Read some books.”

“And?”

“And so that is how I know so much. You know the sort of books. I will admit, however, that I have never…”

He looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to finish.

She swallowed hard again. “Touched myself. But now I want to.”

William nodded, but it was apparent that a blush was creeping up his cheeks. “Oh,” was all he could say.

“Am I not meant to confess such things?”

He laughed softly. “You can. I am just…stilled by the thought.” He sat down in an armchair by the desk, looking at her intently. “What has stopped you?”
