This man is a stranger. A huge, masculine presence with a greedy hunger on his lean face that makes my belly twinge with need. Fire dances along my nerve endings everywhere his long, tanned fingers touch.
“I think you know. I bet that’s what you’ve been dreaming about, baby girl. I know you. You want to experiment but you want to feel safe at the same time. Do you feel safe with me?”
I shiver and cuddle deeper into his hard chest. He doesn’t let me get away with that though. He pushes me away and then turns me to face him, his long fingers wrapped around my jaw, holding me steady.
“You know that you’re safe with me, don’t you, baby girl? You know that anything that you want, I’ll take care of it for you, because you’re mine. You belong to me.”
I shake my head and struggle half-heartedly. He holds my jaw in a punishing grip, growling, “be still. You know that you belong to me. You felt it lately. Those dreams you’re having? I know you’ve seen me in them. You can’t lie to me. You need my control, baby.”
I groan and pull harder but his strong arms wrap around my body, pulling me tight into him. His hardness cradles my softness and my head whirls with lust. The steely length of him pushes into my belly and I squeak wildly, my eyes flying up to his.
“Wh-what is going on with you, Micah? Why are you saying these things?”
“Because it’s true. You might not be ready to admit it yet. But you feel it. Tell me that you didn’t see me in those dreams and I’ll let it drop.”
“I-I can’t…”
“Exactly.”
“But you and I…we…I mean,” I stammer.
His warm hand caresses my cheek and he tilts my head up, his mouth caressing my jaw before his lips rest lightly on my lips. His breath puffs across my mouth lightly. “Open your mouth, Devin. Now.”
I groan and he takes the opportunity to delve inside. The smooth muscle of his tongue slides along mine, tangling in a delicious whirl that makes my head spin and my legs weaken. If he wasn’t helping to hold me up I would have fallen to the floor.
“Dev, baby. Lord, you feel so damn good,” he groans. Shaking, I wrap my hands around his neck, pressing myself as tight into him as I can.
His hands run up and down my back and then he grinds into my belly. My breath hitches in my throat and he pulls away, his hands wrapping up in my curls, tugging at them lightly.
Opening my eyes, I stagger to the side feeling unbalanced and out of control. He tries to reach out for me again but I back away, my fingers on my lips, stunned.
His dark eyes burn with desire and he stalks me until he pushes me up against the desk. Leaning over me, he growls, his nose running along the column of my throat. I feel the sharp sting of his teeth scraping along my sensitive skin.
“Micah?” I whisper.
“Do you want to live out these fantasies of yours, angel? Because I can make that happen. I’m the only one that can make that happen. I’m the only one that will ever make that happen for you.”
I stare up into the harsh lines of his face, surprised at the dark focus in his eyes. “Another man might…”
His hands land on both sides of my body and he leans over until my back is bent over the desk and I’m scrabbling to stay upright. “No,” he hisses. “Not ever. I’ll kill any other man that thinks he can take you.”
“Jesus, Micah! What the hell is going on with you? I’ve never seen you like this!”
“I’ll make the arrangements for your dreams. But I will be one of those men. Just like you’ve been fantasizing about.”
And then his hard lips slam down on mine, roughly taking my breath and driving it back into my throat.
With a growl, he stands and sets me away from him. “Do you want what you’ve seen in your dreams?”
My heart hammers in my chest and I struggle to drag in a deep breath. Micah turns away. I know I should let him go. Let him walk away. I can’t change things with us. I can’t lose my best friend, my only source of stability for the last six years.
But before he hits the door, I run across and grab his arm. “Don’t leave like this, Micah! Don’t be mad.”
He stares down at my hand on his arm. “I’m not mad, baby. Just disappointed.”
His broad shoulders stiffen and he turns away slowly.
Before I can think too much, I blurt out, “I want to do it.” I close my eyes but not before I see the triumph on his face.
