Yeah… that sounded amazing to me.

“I really outdid myself this year,” I said to myself and smiled. “This is perfect.”

I wanted to share my glorious experience with someone… but everyone I thought to reach out to was busy.

I would have texted Guy, but he had become wrapped up with his new mate and becoming a daddy. Not only that but talking to me was part of the problem in the beginning and I didn’t want to cause any undue tension between them. Even though Cadence and I were friends, I still respected their privacy and need for time to themselves.

And Gemma, my best friend, was busy doing her mom and wife thing.

I sighed. It was incredibly lonely being the odd woman out. Not to mention it sucked balls.

A sound of rustling paper came from the direction of my room’s door. My eyebrows drew together as I sat up and stared in the direction of the door. A pamphlet of some type rested on the floor. Someone must have slipped it under my door by mistake.

I quickly stood, picked up the folded brochure, and hopped out into the hall to stop the giver and inform them of their mistake. But by the time I stepped a foot into the hall, no one was there.

With a shrug, I stepped back into my room and looked over the pamphlet for a local nightclub called the Tiger’s Eye. The best part was it was within walking distance, as described on the front page.

“Hmm,” I mused and smiled to myself. “This could be fun.”

I figured I could use a little dancing. And with little else to encourage me, I headed toward my clothes and picked out something sassy to wear. Once I was dressed, I touched up my makeup and then glitzed up my hair before walking out the door for some pre-dancing dinner.

I walked into the lobby of the resort minutes later, accidentally bumping into a woman who was dressed to the nines in a tight black dress with matching heels. She had dark hair and eyes… reminding me of someone exotic. Almost like a goddess.

“I’m so sorry,” I said and tried to help keep her upright on her stilettos.

She laughed. I almost felt self-conscience. Her teeth were bright white, and her life was like heavenly bells ringing. Her voice was smooth, but her accent was undeniable and added to her exotic appearance. “Please. This was all my fault. I was too preoccupied with sightseeing.”

“Then let’s both accept fault,” I offered.

“Nonsense,” she said, waving a dismissive hand between us. “I insist on making it up to you. In fact, I was just on my way to dinner. Join me?”

I smiled even wider. “As it so happens, I was on my way there myself. So, I would love to.”

“Excellent,” she said.

We walked together and once we were seated at a table for two with our drink order, she leaned in with a smile, “So… did you get my pamphlet.”

I arched an eyebrow. “That was you?”

She nodded. “Yes.”

“Do you own the club?” I asked. To me, that was the only thing that made sense. Why else would someone advertise for a club unaffiliated with the resort?

She laughed and shook her head. “No. Nothing like that.”

“Oh,” I said and sat back. “Then why slip it under my door?”

She smiled and glanced at me from beneath her lashes. “Okay, full confession… I saw you enter the lobby when you first arrived. I could tell you were ready for something new. Something exciting and life-changing.”

“Uh-huh…” I wasn’t sure how to feel about being put on the spot in the way she had put me, but there was also something refreshing in the fact that she saw me. “And how do you know?”

“I had the same look myself a number of times,” she said and picked up her wine glass, holding the stem between her first three fingers. “In case you couldn’t tell, I’m a frequent guest here.”

“So, you did bump into me on purpose?” I asked.

She took a sip of her wine and shook her head. “No. That was a genuine accident.”

“Oh. Okay then…” I took another sip of my wine.
