And with that, I headed upstairs as Matt pressed play on the first song.

Chapter 33

Matt

IlovedtheCosmicGod’s music, but when we realized they had a mole, they had closed set recording sessions where only the band and a solo sound engineer were allowed to be inside the studio. It worked because Rylee didn’t get to leak anything, but it also meant I’d not heard their new stuff until now. And now I had, I was speechless. I had to listen to them all twice because I couldn’t believe my girl had written them. Placing Frankie’s phone on the counter, I went in search of her, finding her still in the bath, laughing at how long that woman could spend in the tub.

I grabbed a towel and held it out for her. She stepped out, and I wrapped her in it before helping her pull on a fluffy robe. I wanted to talk to her without her body distracting me from what I needed to say. Taking her by the hand, I led her downstairs, to sit on the sofa with me.

“You okay, Bear? You’re really quiet,” she asked coyly.

“Those songs are something else, Frankie. You have such an amazing talent.”

“Thank you.”

“I have to be honest. There was something so familiar about them.”

“You think?” she replied, her voice sounding annoyed.

“I don’t know what it is. I mean, that song, only, always,it could have been about us.”

Her eyes flicked up to meet mine, but there is nothing there, her expression blank, her lips pulled thin.

“And the one I listened to last… what was that called…Bear my love.I mean that one. That could have been the most beautiful love song I’ve ever heard about someone having to literally bare the weight of the love they feel for someone until that person realizes what was there waiting for him the whole time.”

“I guess.”

I lifted her into my lap. “Did you write me a whole heap of long songs, Rogue?”

“No,” she replied, her attention firmly fixed on picking something invisible from her robe.

“Liar.”

“So, what if I did?” she shrugged like it was nothing special.

“So, thank you. They are beautiful and I love them.”

“It’s fine. I mean, I wrote a lot of them a long time ago and I probably shouldn’t have let you listen to them. You probably wouldn’t have noticed they were about you and us.”

“Are you joking right now? Of course I would have realized.”

She buried her head in my neck, sighing. Then she looked up, wide eyed. “Did you say you loved them?”

“I did.”

“You’re not embarrassed. You don’t think it’s immature? You don’t think I should be doing more with my life?”

“No, why would I?”

“Nothing. It’s nothing.”

I growled. “Let me guess, Jimmy thought your song writing was pointless and laughed at your ideas.

“Maybe,” she mumbled.

I rested my chin on her head, hugging her close. “Let me make this clear. You can write as many songs about me as you want. I fucking love them, Rogue, and I love that the world gets to hear how much you love me.”

My phone beeped, interrupting our conversation. I opened the message, seeing it was from Thomas.
