“Charming Colton––“

“You do not get to make demands of us, you are no longer my alpha and at the rate you are going you won’t be my father either come week’s end.” Dad sucks in a harsh breath at Cole’s words, I hate to say it, but I agree with my brother. I eye my dad warily, I used to look up to him and want nothing more than to impress him and make him proud, I never had freedom like the twins. I always had to train and learn politics and make sure that when the time came, I was ready to lead the pack. Thinking on it, that was all for nothing. I have no land, most of my pack is dead and we’re on an island controlled by vampires.

“Look, I think it would be best if we give the four of you some time to talk. We will meet you all tonight, I have one request though Davina.” Davina turns to Cairo and nods her head. “I don’t think this island is just affecting Creed, I think it might be doing something to Cole as well, so if you could look into that we would appreciate it.”

“You have my word; I’ll deal with it.” Ro nods and stands; Zeke follows his lead and Jess prepares to leave, Cole and I snap our hands out and place them on her shoulders. She looks to each of us and cocks her brow at me, I shake my head and say.

“Not you, they can go but I want––No, I need you here with me Princess.” Her blue eyes soften, and she nods her head. Cairo and Zeke exit the back yard and we all sit there awkwardly for a few seconds before dad speaks.

“California is on her way; we should wait for her.”

“No, I don’t want Harlem here for this.” Jess interjects.

“He won’t be, he is staying with Meg while Sky and Callie join us.”

“Why is Sky coming?” Cole asks. Dad frowns and asks.

“Did you want to deal withhurricane Callie?”

“No thank you.” Cole says as he slouches into his chair.

“Exactly, hence why I asked Sky to join us so she can handle her mate.” Us three guys chuckle at that, my sister may be small but when you piss her off, she is a fucking natural disaster and will destroy shit.

Chapter Seventeen

Jessica

Callie made a dramatic entrance; she dragged her chair from the end of the table all the way to the other end and dropped it between Sky and Cole. I had to hide my smile by biting my lip, Sky looks annoyed that she is here, but I know she would do anything for Callie even if it means suffering silently through thistalk. I feel awkward, like I’m intruding on their private conversation but judging from the hostile vibes all three Reeves siblings are giving off none of them want to have this chat. I stifle a gasp when I hear Creed’s voice in my head.

Thank you.

For what?

For staying and being here with me, I don’t think I could get through this without you by my side.

I reach under the table and interlace my fingers through his and squeeze.

I wouldn’t be anywhere else; I’m worried about Cole though.

Me to, he will need...you.

I turn to stare at him, I know how hard that must have been for him to say. I have no idea how they could go from trying to kill each other to being able to joke and sit so closely. Before I can answer him, Kane speaks.

“Ask us what you want to know.”

“How about you tell us why the hell you lied?” The anger that laces Cole’s tone doesn’t surprise me. Finding out your parents lied to you your whole life isn’t a great feeling, I should know after all. Kane drops his gaze causing his brown hair to flop onto his forehead, his hazel eyes shine with remorse. Davina on the other hand just looks stoic and resigned to whatever judgment her children give her, she is so put together, her long brown hair is slicked back and tied into a high ponytail, her eyes are bright and all seeing but you can just tell she holds so many secrets.

“I did it to keep you lot and Davina safe––“Callie scoffs cutting Kane off.

“Paaalease! You’re so full of shit, your eyes are turning brown. You didn’t do this for us, you did it for yourself and for her, you just didn’t want the pack to know your wife was fucking around on you.” I gasp, Sky places a comforting hand on her mates’ shoulder, Kane’s eyes widen in shock. Both Cole and Creed remain quiet, Davina doesn’t say anything, the only movement that she gives away is that Callie’s words stung, her eyes crinkle at the corners.

“California––“Callie slams her hand down on the table and releases a loud growl, Kane stiffens, and I can tell from the strain on his face that he is fighting his wolf for control. “Drop your gaze now!”

“Or what? You gonna act like I’m dead as well?”

“My wolf doesn’t like your challenge California.” Kane grits out through clenched teeth.

“Then tell your wolf to calm the fuck down or it will be me you face in battle not your daughter.” Oh my god. I swear I swoon internally at the way Sky jumps to her mates’ defense; she is one badass chick!
