“Good. I want Finn to have fun.”

“He always has fun with you.”

Adam’s chuckle faded as he rubbed his jaw. “Listen, I’m going to have to meet you at the stadium tonight. I have a few things I need to do in the city, and I won’t make it back in time. Is that okay? I’ll have a car pick you up.”

“That’s completely fine. Just don’t work too hard. We want this Adam…” I poked his chest. “Not the hardass Harlow who lives to work, okay?”

The corners of his mouth rose. “Okay.”

“Then I’ll see you later.”

“Aunty Tash wants to talk to you, Mom,” Finn called out as soon as Adam left.

I wandered back to his room and reached for my phone. “Hey.”

“You’re in LA?!”

“Just for a few days, and we’d really love to see you guys.”

“Oh my God! I’m clearing my schedule. Come over now.”

“We’ll be there soon. There’s just something we have to do first.”

Once I ended the call, I raced back to my room, threw on my bikini, and chased Finn out into the waves. The water was cold, but warmer than the Hamptons, and it was glorious. As I gazed back at the shoreline, I became acutely aware of how quiet it was. The beaches I grew up with were heaving with locals and tourists, but there wasn’t a soul on this beachfront. There was no noise from boats or jet skis, no rowdy volleyball matches or men comparing muscles, just crashing waves and squawking gulls, and I fucking loved it.

“You still can’t tell me who you work for?” Tash asked as she handed me my tea and sat on the couch opposite.

“I told you, I signed an NDA.”

Her lips pursed before the coffee reached them. “They’re clearly rich.”

I laughed. “Very.” Althoughrichdidn’t seem to fit the Harlows. They were beyond.

“And you flew in a private jet?”

I nodded.

“And this guy you flew over with…the grandson…”

“What about him?” I asked, wishing the heat in my cheeks was the result of the steam pouring out of my mug.

“What’s he like?”

I took a sip as I endeavored to find a safe description. “He is…” I licked the residue from my lips. “Problematic.”

“Asshole?”

I shrugged. “Sometimes...”

“But…”

“He’s also generous, and sweet, and…”

She lifted one eyebrow. “Hot?”

My teeth gnashed as I covered my face with my hands. “You have no idea.”
