He mimicked my smile. “I’m on vacation now.”

“But I thought you had to work.”

“Not every day. So, for me, that’s a vacation.”

“Which room is mine?” Finn asked, gawking at the impressive horizon swimming pool outside.

“My room is at the end of the hallway.” Adam nodded to the left corridor. “Take whichever bedroom you want along the way, or there’s the guest bedroom to the right.”

Finn and I turned in opposite directions.

I glanced back. “Finn…this way…”

“But I want to be near Adam’s room.”

“Finn, we’re guests. We’ll stay in the guest room.”

Adam’s brow furrowed. “I really don’t mind.”

“See…” Finn disappeared down the hall, completely disregarding me.

“Fine,” I grumbled, trudging along behind him. “You choose, then.”

Adam picked up our bags and followed.

“Definitely this one!” Finn announced as he stepped through the first door.

I gazed out at the ocean. “Good choice,” I said, dropping my handbag on the bed.

Adam sidled up beside me. “There are plenty of other rooms if you’re sick of sharing.”

“Oh, I just thought Finn would like the company.”

“Seriously, Mom? We’ve been sharing a bed for days.”

“Fine.” I swiped up my bag and marched to the next room. “But it better have the same vie—Wow!” The view wasn’t the same. It was better.

“You should see the view from my bedroom,” Adam whispered over my shoulder.

“I can only imagine.” I was still in a daze. The ocean was calling.

Adam dropped back as Finn ran past to check out my room.

“See, Mom! I told you! Can we go for a swim now?!”

“Definitely,” I said, unable to control my smile.

“Are you coming, Adam?” Finn was already tearing off his top.

“I wish I could, but I really have to get into the office.” He masked a grimace. “Please make yourselves at home, and if you need to go anywhere, my driver’s number is on the fridge.”

“Thank you. I haven’t seen my sister-in-law since we left, and Finn is desperate to visit his cousin.”

“Does he like basketball? We have a spare ticket if he’s allowed to join us.”

Finn almost choked. “Really?! I’ll ask him now!” He grabbed my cell from my handbag and bolted out of the room.

I smiled up at Adam. “I can’t imagine there being a problem.”
