“Nothing. He has his hands on some of the product, and he’s analyzing it, but he ain’t ever seen shit like this before,” Raoul said.

Duke gritted his teeth.

“What’s going on?” Pike asked.

“Three more deaths,” Duke said. “Two from our town. Another a town over.”

Pike cursed. “Danny hasn’t found anything?”

“No, nothing.”

Duke turned toward the window and looked out over his clubhouse yard. Holly, as always, was out there with the kids and several of the old ladies. She had been through so much in the last few years.

He turned to look at Maya. The young woman sat meditating. She had taken it up during rehab and had continued. Whenever she felt a little overwhelmed with life, that was what she did, bringing her hands together in what looked like prayer.

She’d made him aware of the drug problem running through his town. Between dealing with the reach out from The Skulls and Chaos Bleeds, to the Abelli shit, he had taken his eye off the ball.

“You’ve got to send in some people,” Pike said.

Duke didn’t want to do this. Maya had regular drug tests, and she had been clean for months. Her therapy was working.

“You know, we could always use an outsider,” Raoul said.

Duke turned to Raoul. “I’m listening.”

“I know we’ve already got Danny looking, but I heard you guys talking, and Luna’s back in town.” Raoul shrugged.

“You think I want to use my son’s… I don’t even know what to fucking call her,” he said.

“Obsession, stalker victim, yearning, reason for living.”

“Shut up, Pike,” Duke said.

“Matthew won’t allow it,” Pike said. “It’s pointless even thinking about it.”

“What if Matthew didn’t know?” Raoul asked.

Duke looked at Raoul. There were times he still didn’t like this son of a bitch, but that was never going to change. He had taken Holly first. They had buried their differences, but Duke was allowed to hate him from time to time.

“I’m listening.”

“Approach Luna. She knows club shit. We all know she does. Matthew was a brat and didn’t keep shit to himself. Bring her in and ask her to do this. Matthew’s a prospect, so he doesn’t need to know shit.”

“Luna’s squeaky clean,” Pike said.

“But she’s at the right age, and last time I checked, shehad contacts that might know where to score some dope.”

This was a fucking long shot.

Duke turned back to Maya.

“You get her involved,” Raoul said. “You’re not going to get her back a second time. She’s been through the fucking mill. We all know that. Matthew isn’t going to budge on Luna, and you need to know that she’s the kind of woman that’s right for him. This is why you need to use her, and not Maya. Maya’s too much of a risk.”

It was why he hadn’t used her, but bringing in Luna was a terrible fucking idea.

Matthew was determined to be with her. He knew how stubborn his son could be, and keeping Luna away from club business wasn’t going to work. Being an old lady meant being a part of their world. There were no half measures when it came to the Trojans MC.

You were either in or out.
