Instant fury built in Snyder’s eyes, and he turned, focusing all that anger on Sabbath.
“What the fuck is wrong with you, Sabbath?”
Sabbath pushed against Sandman, who finally released his makeshift chokehold. He clutched at his throat, staring both men down like they were his mortal enemies.
“What the fuck is wrong with me? What the fuck is wrong with both of you?” His glare intensified. “That’s my bitch,” he snapped. “My property. What I do with her is my own fucking business.”
“That’s where you’re wrong,” Sandman growled. “This club doesn’t abuse women. Your rule.”
“Yeah, well maybe that rule needs to be changed,” Sabbath demanded, looking between his two brothers who were both not backing down. “Some bitches need to know their place in this club. She wears my patch, so she takes whatever I give her.”
That was all I needed to hear. My worst fear coming to life right before my very eyes. It was with those words that all my love and respect for the man who held my heart so easily died. My Adam was gone forever, and all he left me with was this savage monster.
“Stand down, Sabbath,” Snyder ordered. “You’re fucking out of control, and so help me, if you don’t get your shit together, I’m fucking taking this shit to Church, and stripping you of that goddamn patch.”
His eyes snapped to Snyder. “I’d like to see you try.”
“Gladly,” Snyder fought back.
Both men were ready to throw down, but this was all too much. This club was never like this, and now all the men had gone completely mad. I was over it. I was over them all.
“All of you shut the fuck up!” I screamed.
The men’s heads swiveled my way.
“Sabbath, I may be your property, but if you ever touch me like that again, I’m gone. I’ll fucking leave this godforsaken place and not think twice about it. I’ll bury myself so far underground you’ll never find me.”
“Shasta, I—”
“Just stop!” I demanded. “I’m done. If you thought this little meeting was going to change my opinion of you, I can assure you it had the reverse effect. I can’t even look at you anymore without wanting to run away. Here’s my ultimatum, Sabbath. You want me as your girl. Fine. Get rid of Nina. If you can’t do that. Just let me go. Why keep me here and continue torturing me the way you have?”
“Because I fucking love you!” he proclaimed, not giving a fuck who heard him.
Tears filled my eyes as I searched his for the truth, but all I saw was a blanketed look of nothing. He was void of any kind of emotion at all. “I really wish I believed that, Sabbath, but this,” I said, holding up my arms to show him the bruising. “This isn’t love. This is property.”
“Shasta, I—”
“I need to get out of here,” I mumbled, barely able to breathe. “I feel like everything is suffocating me.”
“Come on,” Sandman said, appearing by my side. “I’ll take you out for a ride.”
“Like fuck you will,” Sabbath seethed.
“You heard my ultimatum, Sabbath. It’s either her or me, and you only have one hour to make your decision. If the bitch is still here when I get back, I’m gone.” I turned my focus on Sandman. “Come on, Big guy, get me the fuck out of here.”
Snyder looked like a wounded puppy, but he and I both knew that continuing to see each other behind Sabbath’s back, especially with him as volatile as he was right now, would be a mistake.
Sandman ushered me from the room, just as Sabbath’s fist went flying through his wall. “Fuck you all!” he screamed.
My eyes pinched together, but I wasn’t about to show my fear. No. Sabbath had to know I was serious, and this time I really was.
Chapter Six
Sandman
Shasta was nothing but tears and shakes by the time I got her to my bike. The second we hit the air outside, she collapsed against me, defeated and completely done.
“Hey now, let’s get you on the back of my bike and ease out some of these frustrations you’re having.”
