We headed back to the van where they loaded the three of us in, along with the driver. When none of the others joined us I looked at Rafael confused. “Aren’t they leaving now?”

“Not quite, getting you was the main objective but there are still other things they need to deal with,” Rafael explained.

Savo groaned as he sat on the floor of the van, which was empty in the back except for simple benches along either side. It would seem they used it for jobs like this when they needed room for their gear and men.

“Make sure you locate the butler Arthur and a woman named Laura, they’re Yoram’s packmates. They know everything you could possibly need to take that mother fucker down,” Savo informed his boss. “Laura’s a bit unstable so just be careful, she’s unpredictable.”

“Got it, now I’m sure you won’t go to the clinic, so I’m gonna send Doc to you. No, don't say shit. Your Omega needs you to be looked after, so do it for her,” his boss reasoned pointing at me.

Savo glanced at me then shut his mouth and nodded sliding the van door closed, and we were off to wherever the rest of my pack was.

Chapter 14

Glancingatmyphoneagain, I saw two minutes had gone by since Rafael messaged us to say he had her. All of us had wanted to be there to get her, but there’s no way that could have worked. When we talked about it, if my Little Star was traumatized Rafael was the best person to be there for her. None of us had a clue what she might have gone through in the past four days, but I had a gut feeling it wasn’t going to be a happy tale. The Beta Savo would be there to keep an eye on her, but would he have the ability to keep her safe?

I started to chew on my thumbnail as I paced in the living room of the safe house Rick sent us to. It was out east on the far edges of the main city, where hardly anyone lived these days. They were either in the city limits or further east in the country, where our farmers were with open land to grow food and keep livestock. The middle ground seemed to die off when things become too dangerous not having people closer around you. Of course, with our situation we needed to be away from people, a place no one would notice the comings and goings.

Arms wrapped around my waist as a body melded itself to my back. “They have her, she’s on her way here as we speak. Everything’s going to be fine,” Bodhi reassured me.

Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and let it out slowly, knowing he was right. Cambrie was with Rafael and that meant she was out of Yoram’s clutches. Turning in Bodhi’s hold, I looked into his hazel eyes that held as much concern as I’m sure mine must. I wasn’t the only one who lost someone important to them, our whole pack did. I cupped his cheek and leaned my forehead against his, allowing his presence to help settle me.

With everything that happened since Cambrie went missing, the two of us haven’t had a chance to talk. We’d finally been honest about our feelings and acted on them, but I didn’t want it to be a spur of the moment thing. I had to make sure he understood that I hadn’t just lusted after him, that my feelings were so much deeper than that. Yes, finally being able to wrap him up in my arms and feel his body accept me in every way possible had been mind blowing. Since that happened, we’d been sleeping together at night, comforting each other but neither of us had pushed it past that.

Now that our Omega would be back safely in our arms again, my next priority was to ensure Bodhi understood Iwantedhim. Not just for a night or for a fling, no, now that I’ve seen what things can be like between us, I craved more of it like a drug. Lifting my head, I kissed him, needing to reassure him, and myself, he still wanted me and that I wanted him.

Bodhi responded right away, letting one of his hands slide up my back to pull me closer as the other groped my ass. I couldn’t help but smirk at the cheekiness of the man as eager for my attention as I was his. Deepening the kiss, he opened for me and I took my time exploring everything about him I could. A moan escaped him and it had me grinding up against him. God, I wanted to steal him away to one of the bedrooms and take him right here right now, but this wasn’t the time.

Slowly I pulled back, pressing a final soft kiss to his lips and purred at the sight of his glassy eyed expression. I’d turned him on just as much as he’d turned me on. “We need to find time to talk, you and me. I need to know what you’re thinking, feeling, and wanting between us before I assume too much,” I said, feeling a slight twinge of panic that he might not want the same things I did.

“I would like that as well, but to be clear, what I want is you to be my Alpha and Cambrie to be our Omega. For this pack to be a family, fully bonded, the way it should have been before we ever left the house to tell the CoF about her,” Bodhi stated, a slight tone of anger in his voice. “If Marius had let any of you bond her to us then none of this would have happened.”

Cocking my head, I searched his face, curious as to where this anger was coming from. “Do you blame me for not marking her when I had the chance?”

Bodhi let out a frustrated puff of air. “No, Oscar, I don’t blame you or any of the others, if I’m being honest with myself. I’m mad because we could have done something to prevent Cambrie from going through any of this, but it wouldn’t have stopped the problems. Who knows, going that route might have made things worse.”

A sudden noise of a door being slammed caught our attention as feet thundered down the steps, and Spencer rushed for the front door. “They’re here!” he called on his way past.

The house we were staying in was two stories with three bedrooms all on the upper floor, while downstairs was the living space. On the lower level was the kitchen, family room, dining room, and living room, where Bodhi and I were. The reason I’d been pacing here was because I could see out the front window to the driveway but clearly, I’d missed the black van pulling into the driveway.

Bodhi and I were hot on Spencer’s heels, with Nixon bounding down the stairs behind us. Marius had to remain in the city to deal with things, but we hoped that tomorrow he could find a way to sneak out here to see her. I knew it killed him to remain back at the house but with the press conference being what we needed to get Cambrie out and Yoram distracted, he was making all this possible. This was why he was the man I chose to follow and let lead our family down the road we’ve been traveling. Honor and sacrifice for the good of all was not an easy choice to make when we all wanted to be selfish in this situation.

As the van door opened, we spotted a rather roughed up Savo, making my heart seize at the thought my Little Star might be hurt. “Would one of you mind helping me get up, fuckers shot me in the leg.”

Nixon stepped up as did I, since we were probably the only two who could handle his bulk. Then my world once more became whole as I saw Cambrie’s teal haired head as she made her way to the exit. My cursory sweep of her told me she was relatively unharmed if a little haggard looking, with her stiff, dowdy looking dress covered in debris. Spencer and Bodhi caught her up in a group hug, making me comfortable enough to leave her with them to get Savo inside.

“Do we need to get you to a hospital?” Nixon asked, leading the way to the kitchen, where the floor was tile and easier to clean.

A few blood droplets landed on the carpet but can’t say I cared all that much. The house was decent and would keep us safe but by no means was it anything for us long term. The furniture was basic and simple, most likely found second hand. It was a place to stay as things blew over and didn’t draw attention, which is what we needed.

“No, Rick is sending over our guy, Doc, and he’ll look me over. It would be too risky for me to go to a hospital, and I won’t leaveKeksíkuntil I know this whole thing is settled,” Savo answered with a groan as he sat in the chair.

“What happened? Did something go wrong for you to get shot?”I asked, confused because the plan sounded fairly straight forward when Rick explained it.

Savo rubbed his face with a hand, hissing as he caught the large scrape on his cheek. “Fuck,” he swore. “I think we need everyone here to be able to answer that question.”

Nothing about that statement put me at ease, so I went to find my Little Star. If he was in such rough shape, I could only imagine what might have happened to my Omega. The front door was open and I saw her walking in with Spencer and Bodhi holding her hands with Rafael right behind them. I caught his eye, knowing he would tell me the truth. “What happened?”

“Where did you put Savo?” Rafael asked.
